Discovery Cove tips

We are booked in for November 2nd which is our last full day before leaving. the small print says that the dolphin encounter part may be cancelled if bad weather conditions - do you get any refund if that happens?????

Julia-you might get a refund of the difference between a swim and non swim.I can't imagine they would refund for the whole day.

You will have a lovely time Karen

We went for the first time on July 17th and all eight of us (Me, DH, DD, DS, DM, DN 1 with ther new husband,& 2, DN2) thought it was a fantastic day. We arrived at 8am and were greeted by a sloth with one of the keepers and after a short wait were given a swim time of 10:30 with Neo, our dolphin. Perfect. All food and drink was included (breakfast, snacks and lunch) and the whole day was very relaxing. Plentiful sunbeds and umbrellas, loads of oppurtunities for snorkelling, swimming with the rays and feeding the birds in the aviary (bird food also inluded). Even my Mum (74 and a very nervous paddler - has never swum) enjoyed the dolphin swim and was even persuaded to do the tropical river supported by a lifejacket and float. Although I've always thought it was quite pricy, I felt that given the relaxation, included food and drink, sunscreen (absolutely awful to apply by the way) and entry to Seaworld for a week I it wasn't quite as dear as I'd thought previously. Enjoy. You'll have a brilliant day.

We had a wonderful time. Make sure to spend some time chatting with the staff in the aviary. They are very knowledgeable. Ask about the birds names. I mean their individual names; there were some real inventive names. Have a wonderful time. :)

We will be in DC tomorrow (Fri) for the 2nd time, Brought water shoes with us bought in Asda before we left UK £3.89 very similar here at Walmart $9.99+TAX so if you see at home they are cheaper. Looking forward to tomorrow now its all inclusive should make it even better than last time. :cool1:

I cannot tell you how much you will love this place.
I dont personally enjoy water parks and always try to avoid them, but we went to Discovery Cove this year as part of our wedding/hooneymoon holiday, and it was just brilliant.
I remember gulping when handing over my credit card details, but I am so glad I did it.
It is not crowded because they limit the intake to about a 1000 people, so you can have peace & quiet if you are sunbathing. It is beautifully set out with little shacks where you can get free drinks & food all day. I think we had breakfast/brunch & dinner!!! The food isnt just your average burger & fries, it was superb. Lots of bbq and lobster etc.
We swam with the dolphins at 1.30. My youngest Daughter couldn't swim properly at the time, so she had a life vest on (which kept her afloat the whole time she was swimming), and a team member stayed with her while she held onto the dolphin.
It was a magical experience you will never forget.
We did snorkelling, which I would have loved to have done properly, but I panic too much underwater, though my Husband & girls loved it.
Trust me it will be money well spent.

Do they allow non-swimmers like me to do the bit where you hang on to the dolphins fin and get pulled along, perhaps as long as you have some sort of flotation gear on?

I'd really like to try it as I will be in a very controlled situation.

What you are talking about is the full dolphin interaction so would need to pay the dolphin swim price. Yes they do offer a 'floation vest' for those who are weak/nervous swimmers.

Claire ;)

That sounds fine. I did pay the dolphin swim price for myself as well as the swimmers in family. Initially I was just going to go in and paddle about with the dolphins, but I shall definitely 'take the plunge'.

Thanks.
