Discovery Cove dolphin swim- water shoes?

Or the swim with the dolphins experience at DC, do you need water shoes or is the bottom sandy?

I think the bottom is sandy but I can't say for sure because we all had on water shoes. There are too many concrete walkways that I had to walk on for me to go without shoes. I was just glad they allowed water shoes in the parks and in the pools/lazy river, etc.

Thanks. We will have flip flops for walking around but I think I'll just throw the water shoes in just in case.
