Anyone who's done this,

Do you know if you can bring a water camera with you for the dolphin swim? I have an iPhone with a life case (meaning waterproof case) that I would love to keep with me to take pictures and swap who's holding it me or my husband when we Rach interact with the dolphins. Is this allowed??

No... It is not allowed to bring any loose items in the dolphin pool! (At least it wasn't when I went in December)
But, if someone in you group is not doing the swim, they can take pictures from the beach or the rocks on the side ;)

No, you can use it everywhere but the dolphin swim. They say it is for "safety", more like the safety of profits bring made from selling you their photos.

How good of pictures can you get from the beach or rock side for those not doing it to take pictures of those of us that are?? Thank you for your replies!!

Well, not as good pictures as the DC photographers take!
But! It seemed that group members that were not doing the swim could 'climb' the rocks on the sides and had a pretty good vision to take okay photos. I think they can turn out okay.... At least it's better than nothing :)
All in my family did the swim (not my grandmother, but she is in a wheelchair and too old to take pictures) so I actually don't know much about how the pictures turn out. We bought the picture CD/DVD package. It was VERY expensive, but the pictures were great! ;) I would probably just buy the CD package and skip the DVD if I should do it again.
Maybe someone here on the DIS has taken pictures from the rocks? And can tell you more about it.

We didn't even try to take a water camera with us but I do know they said no loose items at all during the Dolphin swim. They do want you to buy their photo packages. And we did. They take a bunch of photos of all the family members doing the Dolphin swim and there are also other photographers in the other areas of the park to take additional photos. They even had a woman with an underwater camera in the warm water Oasis and took pictures of my family all under water together and individually. And the package I bought had several print photos included as well as a photo cd. I did not buy the DVD of the Dolphin swim because it was an additional $50 and I knew we would never watch it. I am glad I bought the photo package though. They were good photos. I think the package we bought was around $159. It came with 5 or 6 6X8 photos, 2 photo keychains and a photo cd. The photo cd also had a lot of stock photos of the animals and birds in the park that came with it. Pictures of the Manta Rays you swim with in the cold water reef. I just budgeted for the photo package in our vacation expenses. I knew before we went about how much the photos cost. There was no way I was going to have a once in a lifetime experience like that with my family and not buy the photos of it.
