I spoke with a Discovery Cove reservationist regarding discounts - she stated that sometimes AAA offers discounted tickets, however, I called and ours does not :( Does anyone know of any other discounts available? Also, is it worth $1,000 for a family of 4?

It's absolutely worth it! It was the highlight of our vacation and an experience of a lifetime! Swimming with the dolphins was great, but I loved the snorkeling in the reef almost as much. Also let me state that I am a really poor swimmer and have never snorkled. The water is so buoyent that I wasn't afraid at all. I don't think that I could have sank if I wanted to! The bird area is beautiful. It's just incredible to be flocked by all the birds to feed them. The stingrays too are so gentle and smooth and great to be in the water with.

So there are my good points. Bad points, just the admission is 1000. Don't forget the video of the dolphin swim (60-)(but it's really nice) , pictures (15- apiece), etc.

You only live life once, live it to the fullest with no regrets is my motto.:teeth:

My BIL is retire military and was able to get us a good discount on tickets from his MMR office.

After spending the day at Discovery Cove with DD's 10 & 12, I would do it again at full price in a heartbeat! It is an incredible place, the dolphin swim was just a part on a truely memorable and relaxing day!

Wish I had bought more of the cute photos of the children and Wish I did NOT buy the video (it is about 20 -25 min. of Discovery Cove like a commercial and about 10 min. of your GROUP - not just your family but the other families that go in the water with you) - we rarely pull this video out to watch, but I look at the framed picture all the time.

AAA south has the discount. There are some package deals available on Discovery Coves Website which include Hotel Accomodations, breakfast , and the Discovery Cove Tickets. I am thinking about doing one of these packages either Through the Renaisance Orlando at Sea World or The Orlando World Marriott. Not badly priced considering all you get.

Do you know if the military person would have to be with you? Do you know what the discount was?

We went to Discovery Cove June 2003. My sister bought the tickets at the military recreation office for us. They did not accompany us to Discovery Cove. I wish I could remember the savings, but I would say it was between $20 - $30 pp. I remember she checked prices at Pentagon and Virginia base, and for some reason, Virginia base was less expensive. Don't quite understand why. She needed the names and ages (birth dates) of everyone going, paid, and simply gave us the confirmation sheet to check in with. It was a wonderful day. Hope you figure out a way to get there.
