Discovery Cove Day Resort pkg question

Hi!

My family and I are planning our first trip to Discovery Cove in November. If my 2 children do the dolphin swim and I do not, will I be able to see them interacting with the dolphins and be able to take pictures from somewhere close?

Yes you will. I got lots of pictures of my niece and her family when she did it and watched from the rocks. You just can't be in the water.

Did you see the $99 special that is offered right now? You have to book soon though.
And, I can also confirm that you can watch your children from the beach. They were too far away for good pictures with my non-professional camera (just as you would expect since Discovery Cove makes lots of money for selling those pictures.)

While you will be able to watch the dolphin swim participants from the shore, they will mostly have their backs to you, like this:



Getting great photos will be difficult.

While I understand its an extra expense, I always strongly encourage people to budget for a small photo package if they are doing the dolphins swim. The in-water photographers capture some amazing shots, and when its quite often a once-in-a-lifetime type experience, they are the best souvenir you can buy.

Thank you all for your input! I'm glad I will be able to see them with the dolphins and will definitely look into the photo pkg.

I did take advantage of the $99 deal!! I had the amex deal at $149 so saved $100 b/w my husband and I. Maybe put that towards photo pkg

Do you mind sharing how you got the amex deal? I called and all they could tell me was to watch the webpage, but nothing has shown up.

Sure! I had been watching the webpage and called also. Got a very helpful person on phone who gave me an amex code to enter in the promotion field on the webpage and it changed all the prices to the amex offer. $219 for dolphin, $149 for non-dolphin. She had to dig a little to find the code....she wasn't sure there was one and then found it.

I looked at my confirmation and it says sept 8th so that is the day I called. I wish I could remember the code so I could give it to you. I looked on my confirmation for that and it doesn't list it...in fact it doesn't even mention amex, just the adjusted prices.

I would call back and pester them to give it to you. It definitely exists! The great rates offer is better than the amex, but the dates may be different.

According to the chick I spoke to there are no Amex rates. Same answer I got last time. And she was rude. Makes me not want to visit their park.

2nd call got me much better info:
I spoke to Ginger and she told me the Amex Fall Promo is not approved (yet) to use this Fall due to an issue between Amex and Seaworld marketing depts. That may or may not change, but the agents at the call center are not supposed to use or give out the code. So you got lucky!

Last year just my husband and daughter did the swim and I watched from the beach however they let me join them in the water at the end for a family photo.
