Discovery Cove - advice needed please

I'm just wondering whether to take my ECV to Discovery Cove or whether to reserve one of their wheelchairs?

Has anyone been there at all?

I can walk short distances but I'm wondering just how spread out Discovery Cove is, especially the Aviary walk?

I would rather get myself around in the ECV I'm hiring (first time) but wonder if I could just get by using a wheelchair as and when I need it, to save the hassle of dismantling the ECV to get it into the Towncar etc. I wouldn't mind being 'pushed around' just for a short hop, but if there are quite large distances to cover I would rather us the ECV.

Any advice or tips would be brilliant!

I don't know the answer, but if you don't get any answers here, you could try posting on the Sea World /Discovery Cove Board . If they don't know the exact answer, someone there might be able to at least give you a little idea about the distances. I haven't looked around much on that board, but they might have a link (or someone might be able to point you toward a link) to a map.
Is it part of Sea World? If so, you might be able to email Sea World and get an answer.

You mention you will be using a "towncar" to get between WDW and DC. I can see three possibilities. 1 is you are referring to a taxicab, with meter. 2 is a sedan service which will come to get you at a specific time and place, and then will pick you up at the drop-off point )or another location) and take you back, with a fixed fee. 3 would be a bus-type service, such as Mears, which might take you directly or to a central location where you would have to change.

In situations 1 and 2 I would expect the driver tyo be able to do the actual disassembling of the ECV into its five parts and put them in the trunk, and then re-assemble it at your destination. Since tipping is expected for these types of vehicles it is obvious that the tip would take into consideration the degree of assistance provided.

If using something like Mears, usually they are buses designed to hold luggage. When I have used these they were able to put the ECV into the luggage compartment without disassembling it; only lowering the tiller.

In any event you would probably be better off taking the ECV with you to Discovery Cove.

Just wanted to mention that Mears has wheelchair/ecv accessible small buses and minvans. I believe Yellow Cab does too.
