Discovered a fairly decent Dole Whip-like dessert at Yogurtland.

For those of you with Yogurtland locations in your area, drop in when you get a chance. This past weekend I discovered they're serving a pineapple sorbet flavor for their 10th anniversary and my immediate thought when trying it from a sample cup was "Holy **** this is Dole Whip"

Of course, you diehard fans probably won't agree, but I thought it was close enough that definitely brought back some fond memories. Even nicer was that it was in the same machine with the French Vanilla, meaning you could replicate the vanilla-swirled Dole Whip that you can get at the Polynesian if you like.

I tossed in some pineapple and strawberry pieces for effect.

If you have a Menchie's near you, they have Dole soft serve pineapple in their flavor rotation.

I was just typing that! The one near us has it pretty often. Menchies is a frozen yogurt, not sure if a true Dole Whip is actual soft serve or a frozen yogurt.

I have gotten pineapple sorbet and even official Dole whip at frozen yogurt places. They are good and certainly do the trick, but I find they are never quite as creamy as the one in Disneyland. Like the quality control is not as good and the mix ratios aren't right. Still yummy though because I love anything pineapple.

Dole Whips are dairy free, so I'd say they're technically neither? Just... Pineapple-y frozen treat? Lol. But yes, Menchies frequently has them.

It's listed as one of their dairy free flavors. It's the same mix as Dole whip, but their machine might put a different amount of air in it.

They have the Dole dairy free stuff at our local ice cream place. It's the same thing. A worker was telling me that they can't call it a "Dole Whip" Because Disney copywrote (is that a word? Lol) the name. I don't know how true that is but...

Just to be clear, at Disney only the pineapple and orange flavored dole whips are dairy free. I mistakenly thought the vanilla one was as well (read it on the internet that they were all dairy free) and had a bite of my daughter's and paid dearly for it due to an dairy allergy.

I noticed at Aulani they were advertised as "pineapple soft serve" (I think that's right) instead of being called Dole Whips. I asked one of the employees if they were Dole Whips and she said yes. Any ideas why they don't call them by name there?

We make our own Dole Whip at home. Core 1 fresh pineapple and freeze overnight. I use my ninja and add milk first, 1 whole pineapple and we like to add strawberries frozen. Blend for at least 5 min or longer until you have a creamy whip. It is amazing. We have it at least 3x a week.

You're thinking of a trademark. "Dole Whip" is an active registered TM of Dole Packaged Foods, which is now not owned by Dole after they sold it to a Japanese Company. There's an abandoned application from Dole Foods. This probably gets complicated heavily by the sale of the division.

Any people outside of Dole or their spinoffs would be torn a new one by Dole's lawyers if they tried to trademark "Dole Whip". It would be like the DISBoards owners trying to trademark "Disney Boards".

That's explains why auto correct wouldn't accept "copywrote" :rotfl:
