Although we haven't used our Discovery Magic wishes yet (we stay at WDW from November 27-December 4), we have heard that you cannot reserve Cirque du Soleil seats ahead of your arrival with Discovery Magic wishes. In addition, you cannot reserve with a credit card and then exchange for wishes later. If you have your heart set on seeing Cirque du Soleil, you may want to pass on wishes and reserve with a credit card.

We've heard that the more expensive restaurants (i.e. Le Cellier Steakhouse, Artist Point at Wilderness Lodge, and Jiko at Animal Kingdom Lodge) are some of the better deals for wishes.

If you're into golf or spa packages, they seem like a good deal too.

I hope this helps! Good luck!

:D

HAve done DMWishes with an 8 year old!

Remember you are paying approx. 30.00 per wish!

For any meal I would not use wishes for the child, but use them for more expensive things like tours and the child care centres(we used 1 wish for a full evening (4-12pm) at the Peter Pan Club) my niece loved it! A 64.00 value!!!!

TheCommermorative Sericel has not been available during either of our last two trips, so have an alternative. :(

Just booked the Backyard BBQ and you can't use wishes for that, so chose another.:(

There is a tour that you can take for the family at MK, that would be a good value. A tresure hunt with a villian?:p

The rest look excellent!!!!:D

Mickey Bound in MN:

we had no trouble getting Cirque tickets using Discovery Magic the first time we went to WDW in Nov. 2000 - all the seats are wonderful - ours were up high so that the aerial acts were right across from us and we had a great view of the whole stage. If we'd been down lower I think our necks would have hurt from looking up...the theatre is very intimate - perhaps not a bad seat in the whole house.

we are using Discovery Magic again this May - it's just me and my DH - we are planning on using the wishes for meals pretty much exclusively this time (and maybe a tour). I have never priced the package for a child - but note that most - even the highest priced restaurants - don't have kid's meals in the $30 range and that is what each wish is worth $30-$35 for an adult.

If you are planning on character meals, buffets, counter service for using your wishes this is not a good package for even two adults. You might be better off going with resort magic and paying for meals and recreation...

Remember you need to book your reserved fireworks, illuminations and AK parade viewing 45 days out from the first day of your vacation (if the package is already paid in full - 45 days from each day of the event otherwise).

happy planning,
LA

I would like to join the discovery magic team as well....:D

My trip in October would be my first time using the Discovery Magic Plan, for two adults. We have 8 wishes for each person in total and we will use it for our meals exclusively. Here are what we have planned to do:

Hoop-De-Doo
Crystal Palace Character Breakfast
California Grille
Cape May Cafe Character Breakfast
Le Cellier for dinner
Hollywood Vine for Character Breakfast
Fantasmic @ Brown Derby

I know it is a waste to use wish for character breakfast. But my other four restaurants are pretty expensive. Therefore, we should be able to get any penny back. By having these wishes, we can cut down our meal expenditure to minimum..... you all know food at Disney is very $$$$$$$$$$$$.

We have also thought about using wishes on Spa or Backstage tours. But since it would be my fiance's first trip to WDW and my second after 10 years from the first trip, we really want to see "enough" of WDW until we are sick and tired of it (guess that won't happen for the rest of my life.) We will use the wishes on some other options on our next trip.

Important!

DM wishes expire at midnight on your last day at WDW. You should use them up or you will be losing out.
