Discover $75 bonus........

I just received an offer from Discover. I've had the card for years but never use it. If I charge $1000 between now and the end of August I will receive a $75 bonus. Does anyone know if I could then upgrade to the Discover IT card? I know that card has revolving categories at 5%. Could be a good deal. Thanks in advance for the input.

I just have a "regular" discover card, and if you log into your account on their website, I would think you'd be able to sign up for the 5% bonus. This is the one that changes every quarter, current bonus is for gas purchases. I'm not sure if it's any different than the "it" card, or if that's just what they're calling it these days.

I just have a regular Discover card and I call them every quarter to get their special 5% rewards. I am not sure what the IT card is; I've had my card for years. I use it instead of cash and pay it off each month in full. I used $800 reward dollars for my vacation this month.

All discover cards have the quarterly %5 cashback so if you are going to use the card get signed up since as stated it is gas this quarter. To get the IT card all you have to do is call and ask and they well send you the new card with the same account number you currently have. Actually they just convert your card and you can continue using the one you have until the expiration. The difference is that with the regular card, although many people were not aware of it, did not start paying 1% cash back until you hit a certain threshold each year, like $1000--until then you were only getting .25%. With the IT card you always get 1%. Anyone with a Discover card should call and get switched over. I have had my card for maybe 8 years and I think it is ridiculous that I had to place a call, because as a long term user they should have automatically converted me when they made an upgrade, but whatever....

I just called to convert over to the IT card- it was a pretty painless process.
To the OP, I'd say to call to see if you can still get that bonus if you convert to the IT card now.
