Hi All, Just a quick question. DH tried to book our cruise for next May using our DVC points and didn't realize we had to wait until 11 months before our sail date but questioned them on the cabin we wanted. My question is this - We were discouraged from booking the cabin we wanted because they told us there was only two of us. I wasn't aware that there was a minimum amount of people allowed in a cabin. It was on Deck 8, Category 4. I am not good in too small of places and we thought this would give me a little more room to move around in. We also wanted this deck because I have colitis and sometimes have to get back to my room/cabin quickly. Thought no elevator, head for the stairs and run! Is this a hardline rule that anyone is aware of or are they flexible on this? Just taking the cruise is a major step for me as far as being confined so I was really hoping to be on this deck. Anybody have any info on this? Thanks, Lynn

DH and I were in a Cat 4 alone last year. To tell you the truth though it is not that much bigger than a regular veranda room. I'd go for a regular room nearer to the elevators on deck 7 and save the points/money. Running down 2 flights doesn't take much longer than one flight. The main goal should be a room near the stairs forward/midship/aft compared to where you will be spending most of your 'out of room' time. ie adult pool, mickey pool, clubs

Hi Lynn. Although circumstances hinge on the degree of colitis you're suffering from, I doubt you'll be able to make it back to your room in time should an emergency arise. I think you would be better advised to request seating near restaurant exits and know where the restrooms are located nearby.

Bt the way, although I have only cruised on the Disney Cruise Line, I found their public facilities to be exceptionally clean, spacious and promptly attended to when required.

As far as room size is concerned, I agree with Windermere.

Wishing you a truly Magical cruise with no health concerns!

I was just about to say the same thing. The difference in size is minimal. Book at Category 6 and get a verandah (or cat 7) and you will be fine. Just get a room located near the forward or aft elevators as the stairs are right there. You will not have any problems at all getting to a restroom. Save your points (and it will also allow for a larger sized family to get that category 4 since they will need it and there are far fewer of those than the cat 5,6,7)

Besides the fact that there are only going to be two of you on the cruise, did they give another reason why you shouldn't book a Cat. 4? Maybe they were just trying to save you points so that you could use them at a later date. The only other reason I can think of is since it's just the two of you they're trying to save the Cat. 4 cabins, some of which can sleep up to five people, for families who may actually need the extra beds.

P.S. Sizewise, the Cat. 4 cabin is 304 sq. ft. vs. Cat. 5 268 sq. ft.

Thanks for the advice. I wasn't sure if the steps continued down to the next lower deck or if you had to go to another stairway to get down another flight. I just want a fast easy way to get back if need be. The room size was secondary to the deck location. I guess we'll make our request come June and see what happens. I don't want to prevent some family from going on their dream cruise because we booked a larger cabin, so if one is available maybe they'll upgrade us. Besides there's a great big ship to walk around if I feel closed in. Colitis on ship = wearing my PF flyers!!! ; ) Believe me I'll make it back. Have been practicing this "run" since I was 18 and that was 29 years ago!! Thanks again for the advice. Lynn
