Now that we're getting our new travel trailer this week we'll be camping at the Fort more often. What kind of discounts are available for the campsites? We're Florida residents, military, and season pass holders. We're also going to be joining AAA later this week.

From what I can tell there are AAA discounts. How do you get them? Do you have to book through the AAA website, or Disney? We already have a full hook up site reserved from October 2- November 1. We're only going to be staying October 22-November 1 so I'm going to have to call and cancel the other days. Before I call I want to know what kind of discount I might be able to get.

Thanks! :)

We reserved a partial hookup site through Disney last year and received a AAA discount. I think it was 10%. I don't know how requesting it after the reservation is already made works. Sorry. :confused3

We just made our reservation normally by calling in, then a couple of months later, when I saw new pricing was in as well as discounts, I called in and asked to add AAA. They did and we're getting a 25% discount the 2nd and 3rd weeks of June 2011. Boy was I happy!!! We saved about $348. We have managed to get a AAA discount every year so far. Well worth the cost of the AAA alone.

Do they always offer AAA discounts or only sometimes? Is that the only discount you can get on the campsites? Does anyone know?

I have a question about the AAA membership, I have noticed in the past, reserved AAA parking at Epcot & Studios both. If they are still there, has anyone ever used them and does it come with the standard AAA membership, or do you have to have the plus or premium?

I can't answer about the parking, but I hope someone can. I do know that the standard AAA membership doesn't cover RVs. You have to get the Plus or Premier memberships ($97 or $122).

AAA aren't always available, and even when they are there are usually a limited number available which is sometimes tied to site category - i.e., XX discounts for preferred, XX premium, etc.

There are also sometimes AP discounts as well as "room only" general public discounts - like the ones recently announced. Same rules apply to these too in that there are generally only a certain number available and once they're gone, they're gone.

You have to have a AAA "Diamond Preferred Parking Pass" to park in those spots, not just be a AAA member. And the spots are just "preferred" parking, not free parking.

Most AAA offices give these passes out when you book your package through them, although there have been reports of some offices just handing them out to their members. Each office is different so you need to ask yours what their policy is.

We've used the pass before - it's better at some parks than others. For example at EP it puts you right in the first couple of rows of parking. However if you end up at the far end of the row, it's still a decent hike to the gate and the parking trams do not run here.

Keep in mind that there are a limited number of these spaces and sometimes they fill up early, in which case having a pass may not matter.

If you have the DPPP, just show it to the gate attendant and they'll point you in the right direction.

In my experience, AAA discount has been 20% during value season, none during holiday, and 10% (or 15%?) during the other rate seasons. (Rack rate, minus discount, plus 12.5% total room tax for the total rate.)

That is, the amount of the discount is tied to the rate season. Pretty simple.

Thanks for the info. I called today and unfortunately no discounts were still available for our trip in October. :( Oh well, next time.
