We're planning our first Disney cruise (and first cruise ever) for sometime in 2006 with our 4 kids. I've mentioned it to a few people and some have said, "Oh, we'd like to go too. Maybe we'll go with you at the same time so the kids can be together." So far, our group is up to about 16 people.

Does Disney offer a group discount? I tried calling the 800 number, but I was on hold so long that a recording told me I could leave a message and someone would get back to me. Well, it's been 3 days and no return call.

I was hoping all the knowledgable people :teeth: on this board would have the answer for me!

Many thanks!!!

not for groups that small. We've got 14 people going next month. I've read here that there may be discounts, but min size is much higher. If you get a really big group, companies have chartered the whole ship!

we are cruiseing for the second time with a large group this July...when I asked Disney about discounts, they said you have to have 8 cabins booked, and it's not so much discounts that they offer, but onboard ammenities. Perks for having such a large group.

Right now, we're sitting at 7 cabins. There are 2 families of 6 - 4 cabins right there. Then there are 3 other couples who would each have their own cabin.

A friend suggested I use a travel agent (Dreams Unlimited seems the be a frequent name on these boards) rather than using DCL directly. Does this make sense?

Also, what kind of perks?

Thanks again!!!

I have heard the same thing about minimum of 8 staterooms being reserved. Good luck.

The reason to use Dreams Unlimited or another discount travel agent is that they give you a price break on the cruise (by discounting their commission.) Yes, to be considered a "group" by DCL, you need to book a minimum of 8 cabins.

We have a group booked for Nov/Dec 2005 and we got a choice of a 1 hour cocktail reception, a memory book or a bottle of champagne. We went through a travel agent who got us a better deal than DCL. We do have more than 8 cabins.

Great!!! Thanks so much!!!

Also, to those of you who use travel agents (I usually do my own booking)....if I contact more than one travel agent with questions, do they tentatively book me on the boat even though I haven't confirmed anything with them? I seem to remember when we booked our honeymoon 12 years ago, we spoke with 3 travel agents and everyone had put our names on the airline flight to St. Martin. The travel agent we eventually went with found us listed 3 times and deleted the first 2. She said if she hadn't deleted them, the airline would have deleted all 3 reservations and we'd have been SOL for our honeymoon.

Thanks....and sorry for all the follow-up questions....I just don't want to screw up the cruise...:earseek:

offer something special for a group? Their prices are the best I have found for the trip we want?

I will have a group of more than 8 cabins and I would also recommend all seasons travel. Their website is www.allseastravel.com and they are wonderful!

We got the DCL Wish box in our cabin on our last cruise from All Seasons.

Cheers,
Grumbo
