Hi - we decided to leave Disney a day later because the flights were cheaper and it was cheaper to stay at a hotel. So, we decided to stay at the Hyatt at the Orlando Hotel, get up, roll out of bed and into the check-in line!! We got a rate of $179 for the night. Does anyone know where I can get a discount code?

Thanks - Lori

We've gotten it on Hotwire for $59 + tax.
When you do a search, the Hyatt is a 4* with these amenities:
Airport shuttle
Fitness center
Pool
Restaurant
Business center
High-speed Internet

When you click on "continue" be sure to scroll down to check the TripAdvisor ratings. If it's 4.5*out of 5, it's the Hyatt. If not, it's the Renaissance. (Those are the only 4* in MCO area.)
Also you must be accurate in the # of adults/children otherwise you might end up with a king bed with 2 kids and not able to change it.

What is your date?

True on that. I have never been able to get the Hyatt when I put in family of 4----only when I put in 2 adults does it show up.

We are 2 adults and 2 children. We are staying 08/31/08. I tried to do it at priceline but I wasn't able to put in a price - is it easy to navigate on hotwire?

Thanks - Lori

What I like about HW is that you "know" if the Hyatt is a possibility and they come right out with the price. You may get it cheaper on PL but all you can do is bid a price & stars and hope you get the Hyatt.
There's a great website that lists all the HW hotels called betterbidding.com.
With their help/advice, I knew I'd be getting the Hyatt before I booked it. Of course it's not 100% guarantee but they are usually right on. I've used them 3 other times (FLL) and they were right then too.

I think their website is easy to navigate. Though they recently changed it and I prefer the old one. I did a search for your date and it's not showing the Hyatt at all, even tried just 2 adults for the heck of it and it's still not there.
Keep trying though.

Do you belong to AAA? It's only $143.20 for AAA rate.

Also Hyatt has a thing called "stay certificates" where you prepay your stay by ordering a certificate either by phone or online. It will be FedExed to you and you use the ID# on it to book your stay.
https://www.certificates.hyatt.com/products/CertsStay.aspx
For Hyatt MCO you need a Choice cert so it's $135 + $6 to fedex.

I'd call the phone # in the link 1st to make sure there is availability to use a cert. on your night as it's not the same availability as what's on the reg. website.
Other Disers have said that Hyatt was willing to hold their ressie until the cert came in the mail and they could call it in then.

I'm using a cert for our Sept getaway (midnight arrival with no dh) and Hyatt not showing on HW. The cert is a good way when you know you HAVE to have the Hyatt. It's a gamble though cuz once you buy it, it's not returnable and has an expiration date though mine doesn't say right on there but I've been meaning to call to ask just in case we have to cancel.

So much I need to get done here :laundy: but I'm a disboards junkie and can't stop!:surfweb:
good luck and hope this helps! :goodvibes

We did get it for 4 but it was last Sept, very low season. It may be rare but it's worth a try.

I agree it would be worth a try. I've tried several times.....in fact, more than several. Between this summer and last summer, probably kept checking Hotwire multiple times. I'd guestimate I've logged on and did a search maybe 30 times. Always looked for late July into early Aug, so these are probably very busy times. We did get the Rennaisance once and did not feel it was anywhere near a 3.5*. Got a credit from Hotwire after sending a letter of complaint with photos to back it up. We went with a 3* this year (after trying for the Hyatt a dozen times, and got Wingate Inn. Hopefully it's better than the Rennaisance was last year.
But if you're going in offseason, I agree, give it a try.

I've heard the Renaissance was completely renovated. Did you stay before that?
We stayed at the Wingate too thru HW. For $49 + tax it was ok. Would def not want to spend any more than 1 nt there. The building itself and furnishings looked new but our AC unit leaked and soaked the carpeting which was very dark so we couldn't see it at all til we stepped in it.
They offer a free cont. breakfast too. It wasn't as good as the Fairfield Inn's or HI Express if you're familiar with either of those, but for free how can I complain? You had to microwave the pancakes; they were still a little frozen. For a cheap HW price, I'd stay there again. ;)

Hi ruadisneyfan....
We stayed there last July (around July 28 or 29). It was the tail end of the rennovation and I can honestly say they didn't even appear to have started our room or even our floor. The entire floor was wet and stunk. They had high-powered fans in the hallway (we were on 3rd floor)....last room at the end of the hall. It smelled like mildew. My dh suspected they were having an AC problem (leaking into the carpets in the hallway from the roof ?). Our room showed big sign of age. Stained/faded/peeling wallpaper.....rust on bathroom fixtures....our view out of our window was of the dumpsters.....I was made aware by both Hotwire and the resort that there would be ongoing construction in the main common areas of the resort like the lobby. And yes...there was alot of that. That didn't bother me because it was my choice to stay there during construction. But I have no idea how HW can claim a 3.5* hotel and I was charged like $75 for it after tax and have the room we had. HW agreed with me and credited me 50%.

Well, I give them credit for at least trying to do something for you. The kicker is that now it's considered a 4*. I hope the renovations are really nice and thorough. Now that we got a taste of the Hyatt, we were so spoiled that I'd rather pay a little extra to know we will have it for sure. For our Nov. cruise, my parents are coming too so they could book 2 rooms at the senior rate of $129. Not bad at all. :goodvibes :cool1:

thanks everyone for your suggestions!! I called Hyatt today and asked about the certificates. I was able to buy one for $135 + $6 to fedex. She changed my reservation in the system to a stay with a certificate. So I saved about $40 for the night!!!

I would be REALLY curious to see it....it would have to be a WHOLE lot nicer than what we experienced last July. It left such a bad taste in my mouth that I did not want to attempt bidding on it and getting it.
I would love to get the Hyatt one day....but with teens and kids in college, just can't go any time but summer. I don't think Hyatt has offerings for anything but "king bed" rooms during the busy months. I would book Hyatt for $135 too ! I checked out rack rate last summer and was told $200/night BEFORE tax. That's a bit steep for one short night's sleep.

I agree. No way would I be paying $200 + tax. Luckily for now my kids are still young and they get a few days off every Sept or Oct for Jewish holidays. We can fly down late Fri after work/school and come home Wed and they only miss 1 day and we get 5 nts in FL. :cloud9:
My neighbor is in your shoes now, well HS anyway, and her ds really gets slammed to even miss 1 day.
Someday I know we'll be in the summer/holiday-only boat but for now we go every chance we get.

Then Renaissance rating on TA is still only 3.5 out of 5. Not very good for having spent probably millions.

Just a note, one of my coworkers stayed at the Rennisance recently and had GREAT reviews. (I was at the Marriott and she kept telling me I was at the wrong hotel!)

Well it's good to hear they worked some magic there Carol. But honestly, even last Aug when I finally got to writing my review (slanted negatively), there were glowing report simutaneously. I found out that some floors had been rennovated while we were there and others were not. Maybe they figured since we were HW clients we weren't deserving of a remodeled room or a nicer view ?

This was my review at the time :

This person---who stayed nearly the same time as me---had a pretty much different review/experience. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1545181

I have not read anything recent since the remodeling has been complete here on the DIS.

I am looking at HW for Aug 6th pre-cruise. I really want the Hyatt, but have not seen the Hyatt for Aug 6th. I have a ressie for the Wingate Inn at $89. I've seen the Wingate Inn on HW for as low as $59. If the Hyatt doesn't pop up for Aug 6th, do I take the Wingate on HW or roll the dice for a 3* on priceline???
