does anybody know of any discounts for Hershey parks Christmas Candylane? Looks like DFi and I are going to meet some friends there on Tuesday, for the zoo too. I have never been there before, can someone explain what its like? I'm not having the best time with their website, lol

Thanks
Lauren

CVS pharmacies in the area have discount coupons.

You can buy the tickets for $7.95 at all the local Giant food stores as well.

The zoo is really nothing to write home about. I can't recall how much to get in but they close at dusk.

Definitely hit Chocolate World. It's free to get in and there's the free simulated tour of the factory which is fun. And there's Hershey's chocolate in all brands and sizes available for purchase after the tour. :upsidedow

I have been to Hershey both during spring and summer time and I most admit that it is one of my favorite places. As for as Christmas time, I can only share experiences I heard from others. Apparently, the lights display is really terrific (I am sure not as awesome as the Osbourne family Christmas lights in Disney). Also, they have the main entrance to the park all decorated and set for Christmas. Definitely visit the Christmas Ornament shoppe (located close to the front entrance). I thought the zoo was ok.

I agree with the previous poster about hitting Chocolate world. Make sure you take the free tour, it is fun. If the Hershey trolley tour is running, you may want to check it out (information and sign ups located at Chocolate world). I really enjoyed learning about the background of the town of Hershey and Milton Hershey while being driven around town in a trolley. The tourguide's are fun too and give out chocolate. Also, since I enjoy history, I liked the hershey museum (located within walking distance from chocolate world).

Also, just visiting the Hershey Hotel is really cool too! It is a beautiful hotel and has a wonderful spa! Nice places to eat too.

One more thing, I have not personally experienced this restaurant but it does receive rave reviews for great food. We are planning to try it in the spring when we visit. It is called "What It..." (845 East Choc. Ave).

Hope that helps! If you need to shop for little ones, there is a great toy shop in Hummelstown (only a stone's throw away)!

You can buy the 4-Pack online. They do charge a processing fee so the total does not come out to less money, but the hot chocolate and game coupon are free.

We were in Hershey last weekend and went to Chocolate World and Candylane. I would not put too much anticipation into it, we were very disappointed. We arrived at Chocolate World very hungry (after a 6 hour drive) and there was not one "hot" food resturant on site! We looked around Chocolate World (didn't spend a dime) and then went to Candylane. My kids are 13 & 11, and they said --"that's it" ??? We spend about 1 - 1 1/2 hours in the park and then left. I don't think we will be going back to Hershey anytime soon. That being said, it wasn't horrible, just don't look for it to be like Busch Gardens or Disney.

This is such a timely thread for me. We are scheduled to arrive Thursday evening for 1 night. I remember that Christmas Candylane had many more rides for little ones than older kids. Sounds like that might still be the case:confused3 .

We enjoyed walking around but not a lot going on for older kids. I got a wonderful rate for the Hershey Hotel but we have never stayed there.. Thought we might hit the Hershey outlets to finish up our Christmas shopping.:santa: :santa:

Blessings

Thanks for the heads up :)

We're not really going for the rides. DFi's best friend (and our best man) will be up in the area from texas to visit his kids (they are small, 2-6ish) and we are basically just going because its something to do where we can bring the kids. Do you have to purchase tickets to go on the rides or is it really just the $10 to get in and ride the rides that are open? I doubt DFi and I will go on anything, but it would still be nice to know.

Thanks :goodvibes

Just FYI, to anyone planning a trip to Hershey this week...

The Park, Zoo, Giant Center and most all of the other area attractions were closed on Sunday and Monday, Dec. 16th & 17th, due to inclement weather conditions that resulted in very dangerous icing and numerous power outages throughout the Hershey and Harrisburg areas.

Today (Tuesday AM, Dec. 18th), many of the schools & businesses in the area remain closed. Chocolate World & the Outlets at Hershey are both listed as CLOSED today on our local news station web site: (http://216.250.230.181/whtmstatic/nonschool.html) No mention yet as to the status of Candy Lane & Sweet Lights for tonight.

So, if you are planning a Hershey trip in the near future, you may want to double check as to what may be opened or closed. Given conditions in the area, I would not recommend visiting today.

We were there on Sat the 15th. It was FREEZING COLD!!! Funny cause we were also there 2 summers ago during a heat wave. The place is great when your not in extreme temperatures! It was almost too cold to enjoy it. Just make sure you bundle up very well. WHen you think you have enough on, add another layer! TRUST ME! DS loved the ride in Hershey World but that's the only one like it. He rode some of the outdoor rides but just wanted to go back to Hershey World because he was cold. We did the Hershey Lights also and that was nice, especially since you could enjoy everything in the warmth of your vehicle!!! We ended up not leaving until 11:00pm and drove home for 2 1/2 hours in the ice and snow. It was still nice, I just wish we were better prepared! Arrive early and bundle up...that's my advice!!! Have fun! :thumbsup2

thanks for the heads up. I knew they were closed yesterday but I didn't think they would still be today. Hopefully it will be better tomorrow. I know its supposed to be sunny and warmer (sad when 40 is warm :( ) I'll have to give all my places a call tonight

You do realize it's winter, right?! It's like comparing Apples to Oranges when comparing Christmas Candylane at Hershey Park to Busch Gardens or Disney. Sure, Hershey Park could open the more thrilling rides, like the roller coasters, but who really wants to ride a roller coaster in 20 degree temperatures?! It certainly doesn't sound like fun to me.

Being a Hershey local - the joy of Candylane is taking in the lights, seeing the Reindeer, visiting with Santa and enjoying one another's company. We don't go for the thrill (since we know we can get that in the summer). I wouldn't write off Hershey Park just because you went when it was cold and not all the rides were operating.

We went for the first time Thanksgiving weekend. It was a wondeerful trip. We had 3 kids 6,5 and 3 and they loved it. We spent time in Lancaster as well. It was an awesome trip!
