Discounts at DVC resorts?

I thought I read on this board that if I (as a DVC member) want to book a room for cash at a DVC resort, I would get some sort of a discount. Is that true? Is so, how much. I don't see this perk listed on the DVCMEMBER site.

The discount is 25% off the rack rate. You have to book through MS and it comes out of Member Inventory. Sometimes it is not available. You will get the same housekeeping as you would if you were staying on points.

How far out can you book at a non-home DVC resort with a cash ressie?

I didn't know about this discount either until I stayed at the BCV when they opened in 2002.
We had booked Sunday through Thurs, with check out on Fri morning. I woke up Friday morning and just couldn't leave.
Since we had our car we didn't have to worry about missing a flight so I called down to check the cost for another night.
We were in a 2 bedroom and we stayed two more nights for a little less than $400 per night. I think it was something like $389 per night. Well worth it.
But I called and tried to get a stay at DCV for early January for cash and they had nothing in member's inventory for cash. They did have rooms available for points use but nothing for cash at that time. Peggie

I'm not sure on this one. I think the same 7/11 policy applies but you could ask MS.
