Everyone is always searching for discount codes and special AAA rates for WDW. What am I looking for for a trip to DL? Do they put out discount codes? Will my AAA memberhsip garner me a cheaper room?

TIA!!

only those hotels who participates in the "Show Your Card & Save" program will get you a better rate. Stovall's Best Western Anaheim is in that program as well as Disney's "good neighbor" program.

Thank you, MissMulan! I've never heard of the "Show Your Card and Save" program. Will you please elaborate for me? Thanks!!

Why doesn't DL have discounts themselves? Seems odd to me.

Other ways to get lower rates:

Buy an Annual Pass, call the Disney owned hotels directly and ask for any AP rates. In the past at slow times of the year they have awesome AP rates of $99 for Disneyland Hotel week nights (more on weekends).
Otherwise they offer a standard 10 % off rack rate (same as you would likely get for AAA rates)

Stay off site..

Personally I found that staying on site was fun but not necessary. Some off site hotels are closer to DL gates than on site hotel!
Check around online for rates (use Travel Axe or Side Step to find multiple deals) - check each hotel's own site for even better deals.

Call hotel directly and ask if they have Entertainment rate for your dates. I typically pay $45 a night for Hojo's (very nice hotel - very popular and just 10 minute walk to gates).

Be courageous: Try Priceline (go to www.biddingfortravel.com for great tips and see what hotels are popping up for winning bids). Try Hotwire (lots of people get the Hyatt for $39 a night)

There are other sites that are more geared for DL travel check out laughingplace.com for more travel planning tips!

You can book your trip through AAA and get whatever discounts are available. AP holders also can get discounts, but they only make sense if you are staying more than 5 days or making more than 1 trip.

Cheers,
Lisa

Disneyland doesn't have many discounts themselves because they don't NEED to discount. They're an urban park, surrounded by people everywhere. Every now and then they offer discounts to residents, and sometimes free days on pre-purchased passes, but that's about it.

Also depending on when you're going occupancy might be expected to be very high. Like this summer for instance.

We've gotten both AP Discounts and AAA Discounts. It depends on how high the occupancy is when you go. I am thinking this year starting in May there won't be many discounts. I know right now, even with a beginning AAA discount that our room is almost $80 more a night, for the same time frame, than last year. I am hoping they offer deeper discounts for AP holders in March/April timeframe. But time will tell.

We typically pay twice as much for an onsite hotel room at DL than at WDW ... for same quality.

Depending on when you're going, getawaytoday.com has a bunch of buy 3 nights get 4th night free for lots of hotels and also tickets Buy adult bonus hopper pass, get child free or adults at kids prices. I'm booking through them for sometime in March.

I think the most important thing about getting a cheaper rate at the Disneyland hotels is to call them hotels directly. DO NOT go through AAA as they tend to only have "package" rates, unless that is what you are trying to book, then go through them for sure.
I made my reservation for May just now and will keep calling back over then next 5 months to see if the rates go down. Also check on Expedia, then tend to have some good deals on Disney hotels sometimes.
