Discounts and renting points

My friend rented points to stay at WLV in February. If Disney releases a discount for that time, she won't be eligible for it, right? I just wanted to double check since I've never rented points from a DVC member.

Correct. Discounts only come if you book direct through Disney.

Right. No discounts on rented DVC points. However, a lot of the time, the rental price is lower than what you could get with a discount through Disney anyway, particularly with the studios.

When you rent points, it's not a hotel reservation, you're using someone's timeshare. It's a private transaction between two individuals, so none of the discounts on resort reservations apply.

Renting points is always a great alternate option to lower the cost of your trip! If only they'd let you add another discount $$$

If you "rent points", you are not purchasing a reservation from Disney. You are buying from an individual who is making you a reservation at their timeshare. You get none of the discounts, special or other offers that people who purchase directly from Disney. No free dining, no kids play free, no discounted tickets. No free refillable mugs.
