If I have a DVC reservation and have used all of my points and then get a discount from Disney for the same resort and there is availability - can I book a room using the discount and have it linked to my DVC reservation?

Also, I was told that DVC will offer a cash reservation if there is availability for a small discount. What is the discount? Is that always available or only at like a 7-month window? Has anybody had a hard time getting the reservation at a discount to add onto your current reservation?

You can link cash reservations made through DVC MS but not through CRO. The usual discount, if available, is 25%. IF you get a CRO cash room you can ask not to move but you still have to "check in" again. For cash reservations through MS (really points reservations) you can link them if the same EXACT unit type and booking cat. You can't even crossover a 2 BR lock off to a 2 BR dedicated normally.

Thanks for the info. I was afraid of that. The 40% discount is a much better deal than 25%. But, it seems that 25% discount is better than what people want to rent the points at. Hmmm - need to think about what to do. Maybe moving to a value resort for 2 nights is a better way to go.
