Discounts 1/9 to 1/16??

Has anyone gotten discounts from 1/9 to 1/16? We have three rooms booked at POFQ at $135/night - AAA rate) but I would LOVE to either get even cheaper rates, or upgrade to AKL for about the same amount. Any tips/info on why I can't get a discount applied yet? CM mentioned the marathon, but I have tried all combinations of dates (1/9 to 1/13 and 1/13 - 1/16, etc.) and can't find anything.

Should I keep trying? Is it likely that something will come up for the entire stay?

don't know much about january discounts... but since i read you are booking three rooms, it might behoove someone in your party to get an Annual Pass... since you will be there 8 days, it should be pretty cost effective and will save money on room rate and meals...

I have an AP and called the day they came out for POFQ Jan. 8-11...nothing. Called the next day when general codes came out...nothing. I'm going to keep trying back and hoping someone cancels. Right now I have rack rate, but will change to a value if necessary.

I have called around those dates (6-13, 7-14, 8-15) all combinations trying to get a week's stay around the marathon which will be on the 9th. So far, the only room that has opened up (granted I've only been checking standard rooms/Deluxe...we have 5 in our party and need the daybed) has been at the Boardwalk Inn...there has been openings at CR, BC, & YC...but they were all suites...much more than I can pay. But keep trying...I would have taken the Boardwalk but I have a fear of clowns (their slide is a huge one) and it would mean too much walking for my young kids...we prefer monorail resorts. I try about every 3rd day...I bet you'll find something within the next 10 days...generally 2 weeks after the rates come out you see some rooms open up because they can only be held for 2 weeks. HTH!

When my DW called using the new code there was nothing available for POFQ but we did get a room at POR with a King bed for $100/night plus tax for a total of $111.50/night. We really enjoy POFQ but we have stayed at POR in the Alligator Bayou and we also enjoy that section of the resort. We are going to try to get into Magnolia Terrace this trip.

The Walt Disney Marathon is that weekend. If you can move your dates you may have better luck.

Call back and have them check one day at a time even a discount on two or three of your days are big savings. I was able to received a discount at WL for $109.00 a night Jan 10-13 using the Florida Resident code but had to check each day, at first was told nothing availiable with code. Org request was 1/10-1/16.

It is definately the marathon. I did as someone suggested and have three reservations. One for the 6-8 at a discount then 8-10 at rack rate and then the remaining of the vacation for discount. It does seems troubling. I understand the WL is one of the more difficult hotels as well

I got AP discount at AKL for those dates for standard savannah room - $151 a night. I wanted the 3 nights before then too but couldnt get those. So we will be at the Dolphin and then switch over. I would say keep trying. It took me a few calls but finally snagged those dates. CBR was also available at discounted rates if you want a moderate. I would keep checking on line and then call as soon as you see your nights opens. Good luck!
