Sister is a CM who can get us a discount on SSR, but after reading how far it is, the lack of theming, etc, I'm wondering if we should just pay full-price for something else.

Thoughts please??

I thought CM's got discounts at all the resorts? Is it just the dates? I would need to see a side by side comparison of the prices before deciding, but thats just me =)

I like SSR- it has alot of nice features and the grounds are gorgeous. I guess it all depends on what you're looking for during this specific trip. Is it a once-in-a-lifetime vacation where the location is the most important thing, or will you be back, and just wanting to enjoy deluxe accomodations at a great rate this time around? ---Kathy

I had a great time at SSR. We really relaxed a lot....Since buying DVC we no
longer feel the need to be "commando". We don't even go to the parks
on some days.
Chill at the pool, play games at community hall, go to DTD.
I loved being able to go to DTD and get any bus to go for dinner. Saved
me some cab money.

We're going in late April, so the only CM discount available is SSR. We're booked for a 1BD for $258. YC and CR are about $365, but are only available the first three nights of our trip (then would do the other three at SSR.) This will be our big trip for the year, so it's not so much about the money. Is the hassle of switching worth great location and theming for three days?

FYI- Kids are 3 & 4, so the monorail is very appealing, especially for the first days which I think we'd spend in MK. Also, Stormalong Bay looks great too, since kids are maybe too little for a waterpark, and it might be a great way to try one out.

If money isnt a big issue, I would definitely snag the YC or CR! for the first 3 nights. SSR has DTD, but CR has MK and YC has Epcot and the entire BW area going for it. =) A split stay might be fun, but I would keep checking for cancelations and maybe you will get lucky! Have fun!!

Stormalong is VERY spread out....it won't be a relaxing day at the pool
unless your kids are happy to stay put.....and not go wondering.
SSR is a great pool for kids....it has a ZERO ENTRY....priceless for
young kids....and a small slide in the pool for the little ones.
Great community hall with games.
I would take a 1BR at SSR for that price in a heartbeat.

Went ahead and booked GF for three nights, then will go to SSR for three nights. I think it's gonna work out perfectly, b/c we'll hit MK on our first full day, DH and I have ressies at Kona our first night, we have ressies at Coral Reef on day 2, and Chef Mickey's on day 3. On days 4-6 we can be more relaxed from SSR (and do laundry!)

Thanks for everyone's input!
