discount cruises

Hi
I am a first time cruiser and was wondering if there were any sites that offered discount cruises. I tried googling "discount cruises" and got pretty much the same prices I'm getting from BJ's. I've been looking at 4 night Bahamas for July. Please send along any tricks to getting it a bit cheaper

I just booked for August 7 on Carnival Imagination and because it's summer it's really hard to get discounts. I'm a teacher so vacationing any other time is impossible. I booked through Carnival and got a past guest discount, but since you are a first time cruiser you won't get that.

My advice would be to look at cruises after school starts. If you could possibly go during September-November you will get an awesome rate!! The same cruise I paid $900 for two people for is $550 in September.

Sorry I couldn't help you more.

I would go to Hotwire and see if your price matches up. Their prices are normally just a few dollars away from wholesale rates. My TA gets great rates too.

BTW, if you are able to go in the off season you'll save a ton. My 14 days at sea trip is really cheap. The 6 day was 369 the 8 day was 600. I get 100 in group discounts and $150 off in stock credit. So just $619 :)

8 stops in the Western and Eastern Caribbean where its 80 in Nov/Dec!
You said 4 day, out of JAX on Carnival?

Pick the cruise you want and then go to www.cruisecompete.com. You'll get offers from different travel agencies with their best price. I've booked my last three cruises this way.

I've used them twice as well. Saved hundreds both times. I'll have to check out the other link someone posted...you can never compare too much! :goodvibes Also, book as early as possible. I booked a March 2008 cruise last May. Now the rates are twice as much as what I booked at. Plus, if you watch and they go down after you book, you can get $$ back or an onboard credit. (I know you can with Carnival, not sure if that's true with all lines)

Another vote for cruisecompete.com! I booked 2 cruises this way!

Thanks for all the great advice. I too am a teacher and am very limited to travel times. I'm going to cruise compete right now.

I have three offers so far from cruisecompete... not bad, I may use them again when I book another cruise! Thanks!

They haven't beat my cruise price yet but I'm crossing my fingers.

We've always gotten the best deals working with the cruise line themselves...takes a little time on the phone...but we've always managed to get more onboard credit and better rooms then the discount websites were offering

Send a special request to cruisequick.com for a custom quote. Tell them what you have, price and incentive wise. I would be shocked if they can't give a better price to take over your existing reservation.

When I put my request in I put in my current booking rate and all things that were included in it. Is that what you mean?

I booked my Hawaii cruise with Cru Con Cruise Outlet in NH. I received an email all inclusive - including air from NY to Hawaii for $1,099 a person. Sign up for their emails and they have every cruise under the sun. They were excellent to work with. I highly recommend them. Would not hesitate to book with them again if I decide to do so.

I try to catch a deal by booking the last week in aug or as close to sept as I can get...it is hurricane season but never had a problem in Fl or PR they reroute the ship to from one island paradise to another :hippie: no problem mon ... from NY you do run the risk of being sent to Canada instead of caribbean...since the price to leave from NY is so much higher anyway I skip the opportunity to leave so close from home anyway
costco travel has been very good to us for deals
