Discount Code and Dining Plan??

I was pricing out a trip using the Visa discount and deciding on whether to do the dining plan or not. Can you book a discount package without dining and add dining later, or must you re-book a new package to add dining?

I was told tonight by guest services tonight that you can add the dining up to 72hrs before arriving.
