Discarding Large Items question

Due to several unfortunate learning experiences, it seems I might be stuck with a 2” memory foam gel mattress after our Feb camping trip and not sure if there’s a way to dispose of it.

Which raises a general question anyway; how does one dispose of larger items at the Fort?

I seem to recall seeing a large dumpster or 2 behind the gate where you pick up propane refills at meadows trading post, don't know if it's for campers use though, I would ask upon arrival

Tks..I’ve been trying to think of alternatives..one is that I can cut it up in smaller pieces if necessary. It’s an older 2” topper (we were going to buy a deeper one anyway), so wouldn’t be as hard to do that.

Some loops have a discreet enclosure for trash bags that are collected in the loop trash cans by the Cast Members who drive the carts around emptying them. I took of picture of one in 1100 (all the way around the loop on the outside almost all the way back to FW Trail). The big trash trucks come by and empty them.

Not every loop has one though. But if you find one nearby, @BarbLynnM, I'm sure your loop CM will be glad if you pull it over to the enclosure.

Tks, I didn’t think of that :) So, it looks like I could cut the thing in several pieces and find the enclosures to dispose of them. Win/win.

We have had to dispose of some larger items in the past at Fort Wilderness. I believe DH spoke to someone at the front desk and in one case they actually come to our site with a front end loader and took away an old sofa we replaced while there. Overall, the staff was very helpful and accommodating.

Tom DOES strike me as a fella with good taste in interior decorating, @Boomer1 . :teeth: A rarity, to be sure. ED

We had to install a new AC on our RV and sat the old one near the trash cans. It was gone the next morning. I'm glad to know that I can call and a CM might come with a front end loader!
