Scene 1 begins in Jacksonville, FL a bright and sunny day just before the beginning of a Solo Trip to WDW. I am a hardworking 40-something Disney Mom of 3 who needs a break....My mission, should I choose to accept it, is to run down to WDW for a 1 week stay to catch up with all things Mouse-related. Luckily, I have a DH who is a stay at home dad and can watch our three DD's. YAY! I say YES, before the tape self destructs.
Hello! Me again... remember the Disbugs Family of 5 Christmas Trip from "HE- double hockey sticks"?
Yeah, I'm the one. Since I got to play nurse to our sick DD's most of our Christmas Vacation, DH agrees to a little solo trip for the family Disney-ac (me) to recoup my spirits and sunny outlook!
Since I have "Disney on the Brain-itis", I really think it is the only cure.... so, I say... "If you really don't mind?" No changing your mind, no takey backey....? Okay then, I'm outta here!
*Side note: All DD's are back in the pink and in school. DD3 is also returning to her old self~ so, everything looks like it can run smooth for a time without me!
Packing can be an art form and usually I am the consummate packer for large family vacations, but when travelling solo I feel like a kid who colors outside the lines! Why is that? Am I too excited to think clearly? I manage to pack all clothes in one large pullman, but I double pack for warm and cold weather... and wet and dry weather! This time I vow, if I pack those slippers, I'm wearing those slippers! I am so excited I think I actually threw things in thinking "There are laundry's at OKW... I can wash if I don't have enough of anything!" LOL! I decide to NOT take the cooler on wheels because I not only forget about the limes, I also forget about the Coronas waiting in the fridge!!
The van seems full, but just as I am leaving the driveway I stop, run in and grab TIKIMAN *(my giant Mylar Balloon) .
He didn't have much fun at the Polynesian last trip either, and I suffered last minute pangs about travelling "alone". He is to be my "Good Luck Charm" since the weather is expected to be terrible during the week.
I manage to pull in and out of the driveway 2 more times, once for a poncho, once for my AP!! Oh, and to put my Pink Minnie Mouse Head antenna topper on! Well, a girl has to have priorities!
Due to another outstanding deal on expiring DVC points and a good deal on PriceLine, I was able to stay at OKW for less than $50/night and LaQuinta for $24... so no guilt there.I have things to check on for the upcoming July DisMeet so I have "Business" to attend to as well!
Stops are made for breakfast items (and Chardonnay) at Publix. They make wine in cute little 4-packs now, which is what I got! I also asked the balloon dept to give TikiMan a little shot of helium, since he was looking a little deflated and we couldn't have that! This is where I had originally purchased TikiMan last December and they were happy to do it! No trip would be complete without a stop at the Disney Outlet Store in St. Augustine. A very disappointing stop, since all the cheap trading pins had been wiped out..
Though I did pick up an adorable "Zoe Polie" from the Rolie Polie Olie series for DD3 as a souvenir.
I left the house early enough, but it is now lunch time and I decide to stop in Daytona Beach at the Super Walmart (what can I say? I really like the place...) I want a tri-pod for taking night time shots without that fuzziness. I find one for around $18 made of aluminum with 2 heads. One for the digital camera and one for the video cam, if need be. I also found a potted tulip for Mama T or Thabo to enjoy *(Both are amazing Concierges at the Swan and Dolphin Resorts).
I am just enjoying the drive down and how each mile closer to WDW seems to take another brick off my shoulders... by the time I arrive I should be 10 lbs lighter... (My new weight reduction plan... Hey, it COULD work!)
