Thanks! :)

AWE - shucks :goodvibes !

Thanks so much! I used the one by dainty design - but I would like to get the other to see if it is a little more size acurate.

THANKS! :) Her hair does grow so fast. She has donated a total of 23 inches and she is only 8! It has these beautiful natural highlights too. She picked out the fabric for the outfit - I know it had a name on it but I just looked and must have gotten rid of that part. Sorry! I did get it at JoAnn though. Funny you should ask for a close up - I was thinking I should have posted a closer pic when I saw my first ones too! Here ya go!

I think the portrait peasant top is a better fit than the dainty designs one. The armholes in that one were way too tight on Lydia, and it was much too short.

That is cute fabric!!!

Is your daughter going to donate her hair again? Arminda did that when she was in 1st grade, and she keeps talking about doing it again, but then she wants me to cut it! It went from really long to really short in about two seconds the first time she donated it! :sad1:

Here's my work for the day. It took approximately 6 hours to do the work. Still need to fray check the ribbon and attach the lace on the hem. Or should I just hem it? What do you think?

I plan on making a peasant top to go with it. Maybe out of gauze or batiste.
I like it with the lace- it is very pretty- definitely save it for the grandkids!! Now tell her- No chocolate, ketchup, mustard or bleeding while she is wearing that dress:rotfl:
I think she likes it!! Looks like she's having a grand time twirling. Sorry haven't used any ycmt patterns.... yet.
Thank you! I wanted something that my DD9 (almost 10) would actually want to wear-there are very cute outfits here, but some might be a little girly for her taste. Also, I do not have enough talent, like many of the wonderful seamstresses here, to do a lot from scratch. I found it easier to work with clearance clothes I got at Old Navy, Gymboree, Gap and Target.

The last project I am working on is tye-dyed t-shirts for everyone with Mickey heads. I'll post those when I am done.

We will be at Disney from Feb. 9-15, and then head back over to my ILs for a few days before the kids and I head home (looks like DH will have to head to Miami for work first). We can't wait. Florida was almost 100 degrees warmer today that it was here in the frozen tundra (area windchill was -28).
We did Mickey head tie dye shirts too!! They were alot of fun!! Did you already buy your shirts?? If not get them from jiffyshirts . com They come in like a day and the colors really hold up a lot better then the packs of hanes or whatever from the stores. We got Hanes heavy weight and I think they something like 1.77 each and you could get any size!! And make sure the water is really hot- it makes the colors more vibrant :) I bought other "blanks" at the same time to optimize shipping- (they have standard shipping up to a certain price)
We did a trial run on the shirts and bought the store ones the first time- We were disappointed with the results so I asked around and people suggested jiffy shirts. Ok sorry to babble.
I hear we maybe coming out of the deep freeze by the weekend :yay: :yay: :yay:

I got another Fabric "sausage" at my hancocks today!! It was $4.99 for a good three and half foot tall bag stuffed with fabric!!! All sorts- I haven't dumped it yet- But I will post some pics and share my bounty if people are interested :flower3:

You need a ruffler! I love mine. I haven't optimized it yet, but I will! I HATE to gather, so this thing is great! Do you know what kind you would need? low, high or slant shank? (there are pictures of the different shanks in the bookmarks) I like the rolled hem foot too. Which reminds me... YEAH DEANN!

I'll have to have a look - I have a brother machine if that helps at all :)

ETA: I can do rolled hems on my overlocker/serger - is it easier on the sewing machine??

I absolutely love this outfit. You did a beautiful job and that fabric is to die for. I would go with the lace at the bottom. It is very pretty that way.
Oh my - I am doomed! I just can't keep up! Here is the pic of the outfit I made for Emma for her birthday tomorrow. I couldn't help but include the one of her rolling her eyes at me! This is the YCMT peasant top - I used the long sleeved pattern but had to add at least 4 inches on it to make it that way. Anyone else have that problem?

This is too adorable.

Ok this is what I have been up to tonight. This is the skirt and shirt that I made out of my $0.01 panel. I bought the last of the cream lace and it wasn't enough to go around the skirt. So I just used some that I had on hand.

This is DD's Valentine's dress that she wanted. I just bought the shirt cause I didn't want to deal with a bodice tonight.

Ignore the McDonald's cup in the background. That is DH's.

Wow you are quick!!! That is really great- the lace looks good.
I think the v-day shirt and skirt look great together too!! Is your dd going to wear it tomorrow (today)???

I was only gone for maybe a 1/2 day and I miss so many cute outfits! And another contest, too!

Aimee ~ Those outfits are wonderful! Love the cocktail skirts.

Lori ~ Emma seems to love the birthday dress. It's really cute. And her hair is really growing fast! I wish mine would. Happy Birthday Emma!

I love the tan outfit WITH the lace at the bottom.

And the jeans outfits were great, too.

I've been sewing and seam ripping my Tinker Bell & Aurora dresses. I hope I get these done soon!

Those turned out great! I love the lace you picked for the bottom of the Valentine's dress. And great score on the penny panel.

Lori, that's way too cute! And, just for the record, I hate that DD peasant top pattern!!!!!!

What other non normal feet do you consider a must have?? as I will probably buy a couple to get the most out of my postage.

If you plan to do any appliques, I strongly suggest a clear or open front foot. I just got one last week and it's made a HUGE difference!!!

WOW you are fast!!!!!! Those are cute and we're not buying that McDonald's cup story! We know you needed that milkshake!! ;)

You sewed for BARBIE? I still complain about sewing for Jord. I would go nuts :rotfl: sewing for Barbie. I want to see pictures (please)

It's a very simple sundress pattern from some old magazine that my Mom cut out. It was my first try so it was a learning experience! I learned that I will use velcro on the back instead of sewing tiny snaps on everything!

Beautiful! I think it will be lovely with the lace at the bottom. And a gauze peasant top under will be perfection! Is this for Easter?

I love it! I have that purple fabric in a Strawberry Shortcake strip skirt. It looks really pretty with the green. Megan is long-waisted and long-armed so I have a horrible time trying to adjust patterns to fit her. I usually try to add a few inches and hope for the best. I wish there was a trick for getting it perfect every time (well, there might be but I don't know about it). I think the sleeves look long enough, so you did something right!

If it gets stuck in your machine DO NOT yank on it!! Right Heather!?!!
Unless, you want a new machine.....

I never yank (yeah, right!).

Oh my gosh, you are fast! They both look great, I hope you will show us them on too. So how much did that first one cost you? A penny for the fabric, thread, elastic, lace and a t-shirt? That's excellent!

For some reason, Barbie clothes seem so intimidating, I guess because they are so small.

Hee, I learned that too! I was working on my first one and I had to have my mom sew on the snaps because I just couldn't do it. She told me to use velcro and I have used it exclusively ever since.

She also gave me a tip on doll and little girl shirts that I love. Instead of sewing the sleeve shut and then trying to do a hem on a tiny circle, sew the hem first, then sew the sleeve to the shirt and last sew it shut from the bottom of the sleeve up and down the side of the shirt. I do this on every shirt I sew for Megan and the dolly, no matter what the pattern instructions say.

Yeah, those tiny snaps are no fun! Great tip about the sleeves, I'll remember that IF I ever make shirts. I like this dress pattern, I'll need to master this one first before I attempt anything else.

Here is what I worked on today!

I'm sending it to my mom's best friend's grandbaby :) .

And here is my handsome son modeling a very full reversible twirl skirt (he calls them "tworl skorts"). We ended up giving this one to one of his little friends, and she wore it on her birthday, and is going to wear again on Valentine's.

I got your pattern and I can't wait to make something with it. The pattern looks relatively -I won't say easy- but do-able!

Thank you!!!

Which ones are you making?

I'm making the dresses using the pillowcases as appliques. A Tinker Bell and Aurora. If I have time, I'm adding Ariel for my DN2. Her birthday is in March, but we're going to WDW in Feb. The pillowcases are from KMart.

I've used the seam ripper more times than I care to count on the Tinker Bell dress. :sad2: And I'm still not sure of the color scheme I picked for Aurora. I haven't started the stripwork for the skirt yet, so I keep changing my mind.

Thank you! Shirring is the stitching around the neckline. You use elastic thread as your bobbin so it gives it stretch. You can see it better on Tom's peasant top pictures.

Megan and Wyatt are just about 2 1/2 years apart and I hear much more bickering between the two of them than I'd like. :rolleyes1

OMG! My DD8 is Megan as well! Spelled the same way what a small world!! Right now I'm going through the 'You have 10 more minutes until the bus comes. Are you dressed yet???' morning routine. Why can't they get ready in the morning by themselves? It's hard enough for me, never mind two other people.

I'm hoping to make her a HM skirt, but can't find any fabric that's not flannel! I just got LouiseMama's scallop pattern so I'm going to try that with some fish fabric I found to go with an Ariel top I'm making for DD5.
