So I went to Walmart and I didn't find amazing fabrics, but it was a success. I think we're going to do the ribbon shirt, but I have a few questions for the ribbon shirt lady - did you carry the ribbon all the way to the back? Did you use basic black for Mickey or silky black or does it matter?

So now that I have my Ariel and Belle I'm going to practice my Applique technique.

Another question for everyone I picked up HeatnBond iron on adhesive and didn't realize until I was home that it was a no-sew version. Has anyone used this before?

On my ribbon Ts, I open the side seams, insert ribbon, then stitch back up.

Heat n Bond Ultra will gum up your needle and will probably not be a good thing. If you're going to use it for appliques, you might need to exchange it. :headache:

Look what I found today! I went to a sewing shop and found out that they have over 6,000 bolts of fabric including some Michael Miller    I spent 2hrs testing embroidery machines and then 1hr browsing fabric! This is all I bought today, but I will be going back.
I like the red/black for use with Mickey & Minnie customs, the letters are for something else I have planned, and this Mickey fabric I've never seen before.

That mickey fabric is gorgeous

I also got this in the mail the other day! I loved glorib's Marie outfit so much, I went on the hunt for fabric. I got this on voldemort and it came from Malaysia. I can't wait to make dd2's outfit!

I love the fabrics from malaysia!!!

Nope, I don't think it's weird. My DH and I have always wanted gobs of children (we currently have 5;) ). We were thinking 7 sounded good. Anyway, after I birthed my 4th I cried because I was more than halfway done and it seemed sad to me. Pretty pathetic huh. I don't know what I'll do when we decide that we are not having any more children.
So no... not weird at all.

WOO HOO! I love to hear about these big families! I have 7 myself (I've given birth to 5)...and it really is heaven....HAHA! It's amazing though! I never thought I'd have such a big family, but I wouldn't change a thing...usually...I've only listed a few on ebay... Being an only child myself, I always knew I wanted to have a few...and WOW! My youngest is 8 mos...oldest is 12...it's so much easier now! I totally get how these big families have done it!!! :dance3:

Well I decided to Disney-fy my sailor outfit. Here is the results. I haven't put the hooks inside the top, so it's just pinned, that's why it's hanging funny in the front. Also there will be a red ribbon on the front...eventually..LOL

Hope you all like it!

Well, yeah! It's so cute! I really love the sailor top. Any hints on the pattern? Bonnie wears a size 7. I wish she were smaller because the size 7-14 sized patterns aren't nearly as cute as the smaller ones!

So more questions from the newbie ....

Do your children wear the outfits all day in the parks?? or is it normally for special stuff (character meals etc).

What shoes do they wear so they fit in with the outfit but are still comfortable enough for all that walking??

It looks at this stage that we will be in Disneyland October 09 (sounds much better just saying next year) Can someone tell me what the weather is like around october? What sort of clothes can you suggest?.......

I think I'm going to have to start a "to sew" list

Already on there is the Amy Butler Weekender bag - think I might try to disneyfy it :rolleyes1

A big disney quilt for each of the girls (this is for christmas) made from Minky :cloud9:

Some outfits......

Is there anything else I need to get addicted too :rolleyes1

I don't either. I tend to "franken" pattern. I'm looking for something with a plain top to applique on. I'll have to look at the buttericks. Otherwise, I found one on YCMT, but it was $9.

I found this one at Wal-Mart last night. It's the one that I'm working on right now for DD's Mardi Gras dress. I'm making the double layer skirt one with the regular top. I had plenty of room to do appliques on.

I franken pattern also. Like this dress. I'm doing the bottom of one dress and the top of another.

I love the buzz outfit and what a fantastic diaper - is it a pocket?? or a cover?? How old is your gorgeous bubba?? If you want a disney diaper let me know I'm happy to sew you up one :) Everyone on here has been so lovely to me that I'm happy to spread the love. It may take me a couple of weeks - I love sewing the diapers but hate doing the snaps lol :) I have some tinkerbell PUL or some Pooh bear PUL (and more but I can't remember off the top of my head :) )

It is a pocket diaper. They are my favorite:goodvibes Julia (the babe) is 7 weeks old. I can't believe how time flies!
OMG! Thank you so much for offering to sew a Disney dipe!! I may take you up on that offer. I'll PM ya!

People think we are CRAZY! I love almost every minute of it (notice I said almost ;) ). We have a 9 yo DS, a 6.5 yo DS, 4.5 yo DD, 2 and 3/4 yo DS, and our newest is 7 weeks (DD)!
And LOL to the ebay comment! My DH has threatened that!!

OK I am done. I should have taken my time and gone slower but I learned a LOT about how to applique and that was my major reason behind doing something so big for the first time. :) I know my speed now. My last thing I did was the red around Bob and I think it is much better than the rest. I have to go at snail speed and I see that now lol.

I do not think I am going to add any rick rack or anything to make it "girly". I really like it on her like this with just a ponytail ... I will make her a big bow and get a red shirt to go under probably. Now do you guys think it needs something more? I just cannot decide if it is done done kwim?

I think it looks great! Going slowly is the hardest for me too. I like to go fast & get the seams done & that just doesn't work for applique.

I love my ruffler. I love my ruffler. I love my ruffler.

Really, I do, but right now & want to throw it out the window (excpet that it's too cold to open the window or have a big hole in it). I'm trying to put a ruffle on the bottom of a Tink top & I decided to try to ruffle & attach at the same time. Everything was fine until I broke a needle. Then I broke 2 more & the bobbin thread is bunching up. GGGRRRR!!!!!!!!

Ok, after a piece of chocolate & catching up on here, maybe I'm ready to try again.

Hi...This pattern was for a size 7. Ireland is borderline 6/7 in the top half and about a size 5 on the bottom. So when she is at school, her little sister tries her clothes on for me, because they are about the same size.
Pm me and I will go find the pattern for you...

How is the quality of their fabric? I have them saved as one of my favorite sells but haven't purchased anything from them yet..

I think you did great! I would either leave junior as is, sew it by hand, just a quick backstitch or just a sharpie will work too. I would not rip them open for just a mouth, I have ripped open way too many jeans in my day!

And a cutie she is! Pony tails can tell us alot! I bet she is a joy.

What an awesome fabric day! I would die for some MM fabric anywhere nearby! Yes, within 2 hours counts for me as nearby!

Love that Mickey, I got a boatload back when walmart had it (probably 4-5 years ago). i have it all bought for doing my next nursery (wallpaper border and all), dont think there will be any more kids though.

I stopped my ribbons at the edges and folded under, you cannot tell. Heat N Bond LITE is must for sewing. The other does gum up your machine and if you don't keep ungumming it it starts skipping stitches, etc.

Here is what I have been working on the past few days...
th_clothingcreations018.jpg

After I took the pic, I fixed the sash so it is shorter and hangs better.

I made this from the boys old sheets. I put myself on a fabric budget so I had to make do:lmao: The Buzz fabric was the flat sheet, and the blue/turquoise fabric is the fitted sheet. I had some of the green on hand.

Next up with this sheet set is an appliqued jeans set for my 2.5 yo ds.

Love the buzz outfit! I got that sheet in my stash too! I butchered it a couple months ago thinking I would make a shirt with it but never liked the way it turned out, thank goodness I only wasted a little corner of it!

If you don't plan on sewing through it, keep it. If you plan on sewing through it for applique or anything like that. Return it right away. I bought this by accident and made a total mess of my project, and my sewing needles. It gummed up my whole machine. What a nightmare..:scared1:

You can add the line for the mouth with fabric paint...I usually do finer details with paint. Like eyes, for example...

These look great. I would hand stitch Junior's mouth on. It you cross stitch, I would use a back stitch to make the mouth. Then you don't have to open the jeans again.

I LOVE this! We are staying at the BC next trip. I really think I might have to case that AHOY idea for shirts it is too cute. Now only if I could really sew. Is that a ribbon on the bottom of her skirt? It adds such a great touch.

The ribbon on the bottom is a premade, triple ruffle. It's a red white and blue satin. It doesn't really go, but I had enough of it, and figured..what the heck..why not...I knew I wasn't going to hand make a ruffle that long to go all the way around. So it was either the premade ruffle or just a plain hem.

I made these!! Yay, I get to help someone!! I asked the same questinos before I made them, LOL.

I don't cut open the side seam, I just measure about 2" from under the arm, use heat n bond (lite) on the ribbon to keep it from moving while you stitch it, and fold under the ends. You can't tell the ends are folded under. I use regular thread all purpose I think. My best tip I got was to use the heat n bond on the ribbon! It makes a world of difference!! Just remember - grosgrain ribbon (probably all ribbon) doesn't like a hot iron!! I learned this the hard way!
