DISboard assumptions that make you go hmmm...

A couple of people have mentioned that The Nutty Professor is a Disney movie.

It doesn't really matter in regards to the topic at hand, but that Jerry Lewis movie is not a Disney movie, is it :confused:? The Absent-Minded Professor is.

Another assumption I come across daily is that you couldn't possibly have a good time at The Swan or Dolphin because they're not Disney owned, therefore couldn't possibly be anything worth staying at. 99.9% of the people saying that have never even stayed at The Swan or Dolphin...

...and this I know because I'm the Great Defender of The Dolphin!!!!!! :laughing:

uh, there is no magic offsite. Duh. :rotfl: The way people talk about the freakin' magic around here you'd think there's a checkpoint that prevents any magic from being illegally removed from Disney property. People can and do have perfectly magical vacations offsite. Geez. :rolleyes:

I sometimes wonder if my lack of a signature makes people assume that I've been "bad" on the DIS and had that privilege taken away. But I just don't take time or really care about having a signature picture/saying. I've never gotten points. And some people may be horrified to hear this, but I've also deleted my tags more than once on purpose.

It doesn't really bother me and I probably do it myself, but people tend to assume that everyone has kids. I have been asked several times if my avatar is my daughter. I don't have kids, and that picture is of me in the late '70s :teeth:.

Some users seem to assume that everyone knows who certain posters are. For instance, there is a user who is apparently extremely well-known on Theme Parks, but I never heard of him until sometime recently :confused3. But most of the people on Theme Parks have probably never heard of even the most well-known posters here on the CB that we are all familiar with.

Some people assume that the CB is just a mean, scary place. Or that the Budget Board is only made up of freakishly extreme tight-wads. But I assume things about various forums, too. There is one particular DIS forum which to me is the strangest of them all :eek:.

Really:confused3...wow, that's a shocker:lmao::rotfl2:

I absolutely agree! My signature shows we always stay offsite and I frequently get the sense that others are looking down their noses at my vacation. Certainly the prevailing opinion on these boards is on-site is superior and an off-site vacation is somehow a lesser vacation experience. Along those lines, I have had a few incidents where people will question my Disney knowledge (not about a resort topic) simply because my vacations are not on-site. I have been an AP holder, and experienced many wonderful restaurants, shows and despite the horrible truth that I stay off-site I do have some Disney knowledge to share.
