All systems are go for our launch at 4am sunday, August 3rd! We're driving from Chicago to WDW!
I had checked the air in the Windstar's tires (and the spare!) three days ago and had no intention of checking again. Last night I came home with a pizza and noticed something shiny in the left rear tire of the Windstar and I pulled into the garage in my car.
There was a HUGE phillips screw (turned out to be a one inch long one) in the tread. It wasn't too beat up so it must have just happened. I checked the pressure and it was already down to just 20 lbs.
I went to the tire store and had it patched from the inside (tire only has about 10,000 miles on it) and now it's good to go.
Can you imagine if I hadn't noticed it? A flat at 4am on a sunday when we're supposed to be enroute to WDW? That would have been an unbelievable catastrophe!
I really don't know what we would have done on a sunday morning. I guess we'd have to have waited to start our trip until a Tires Plus or Just Tires opened up on a sunday morning, if they even are open.
The van is washed, all fluids changed & topped off. Inside vacuumed, Armor All'ed, windows clean inside and out. Snacks are ready, drinks are chilled in the 50 gallon cooler on wheels.
Next stop, Chattanooga, TN! Then on to Orlando the next day!
Then the Coronado Springs Resort tuesday morning to check in around 8:30 am and then go to the Magic Kingdom!
DD6 and DW are verrrry excited. I wonder how we'll all sleep tonight? I am missing a good friends bachelor party tonight as it starts at 9pm and the "entertainment" won't get there until well after that. I gotta hit the hay to start driving southbound through these here great United States of America!!!!
