Disappointment at J's

I drove 1.5 hours each way, crossed the border into the US, to get to the nearest Joann's and it turns out to be one of those smaller stores. They only had one small aisle of SB stuff. So disappointing! I had to search high and low to find something to use my coupons on!

Next time I'll know that I have to just keep driving... next closest Joann's is 3.5 hours away and there's a Target and an AC Moore.

the joann's near me in nashua nh has very little scrapbooking stuff too,but there is a AC moore down the street from it.

The JoAnne's nearest me has an AWESOME selection of paper, stickers and other SB items but they're pretty high. The standard c/s is .59 a sheet and stickers usually run higher at J's than Mike's or Hobby Lobby. The refill pages for the Pioneer albums are high too...5.99 for a pack. But I will admit they have a great selection and when they have sales, they are AWESOME sales. Last Fall they ran C/S 5 or 6 sheets for .99!! Needless to say, I stocked up!

Sandy! With gas being so expensive.. can't you do mail order?! I know how disappointing it is to drive a long distance in search of something and it's not there! Nor is it what you hoped for.

Is Mail order not an option for you?
Or is the shipping too expensive?
I like to go to a shopping outlet that is 4 hours from home, Potomac Mills.
When i do decide to go, I make it an overnight excursion. Sometimes doing a search or belonging to an auto Club, can get you some great rates.

I was surprised at the difference in the stores! I went to one a couple weeks ago & picked up their flyer with the 50% coupons for this weekend. That store had very little in it & I ended up giving my coupons to someone else that day - there was really nothing I wanted.

I went to the new one a bit north of me & almost fell over! They have more scrapping stuff than either Mike's or ACM - maybe as much as both combined!! I did pick up a bunch of that paper - 6/96 cents. I got all Disney paper - stuff I've only seen on-line...even the LSS didn't have it! I wouldn't have paid 59 cents for those princess papers, but for 16 cents I got them all!

There was soooo much paper there!!!

One thing that surprised me, though, was that I didn't even see the Colluzle stuff. They had Sizzex, Fiskars & a lot of punches, but that was about it for cutting tools. Maybe I missed them?

The one I was at today didn't have Coluzzle or Sizzex. And they had 1 old dusty Fiskar's 12 inch cutter - an older model. They did have the Joann's name brand cutters.

mine is just a little one, sometimes I find stuff, usually I don't. mike's is literally one store down, and the new recollections is about 2 stores down. should be interesting to see what happens. (and of course when I can't find anything in either j's or m's I just go to target which is in the same plaza. ) maggie

I'd love to see a super JoAnn's store... Ours sucks too. I get jealous when people talk about how great theirs is. I have a Joann's like 4 blocks from my house. Sigh...

I think the closest Joann's etc is on Niagara Falls Blvd. Just a little North of it are Target and A.C. Moore and South of it is Michael's. I don't go to Canada very often, but I don't think it should take you 3.5 hours from Ontario. HTH.

Yesterday I had to run into J's to get some photo albums for clients leaving Sunday for a 7 day Carnival cruise. I always give little "thank yous" and usually find some great frames and/or albums for clients. While in J's, I saw C/S on sale 50% off!! I just about went nuts!! It's been since early December since they had c/s this cheap!! Granted it wasn't their usual 6 for .99 but it was still a great price and I stocked up. Hobby Lobby doesn't have the selection of paper that J's has and our Mike's is going to be closed for the next 8 or 9 months while they tear it down and rebuild it. Something about the floor is warping. We don't have an AC Moore anywhere around here (never heard of it til I started visiting here) or a Reflections. Maybe one will be built before too long since it seems everything else is being built around here!

8 or 9 months?!?!?! It's a good thing Mike's isn't the only craft store in your area! You might actually run out of stuff!

Oh yes, what a terrible thing if there weren't other choices...I might have to drive to Chattanooga or Franklin to the 2 largest LSS in TN!!!

Thanks but I live in Eastern Ontario - Niagara Falls is about 8 hours away.

3.5 hours brings me to Syracuse, NY.

Don't you just hate to waste your time, gas, and energy that way? Why can't they all be great? My local J's is horrible - unorganized & cluttered and the scrapbooking section (one side of an isle) is sad. There is a super J's about 45 minutes away, but I don't get out there too often. The last time I went out there, they had just had a sale and the scrapbook isles were picked clean
