Disappointing

We received our magic bands in the mail today and I was just a little disappointed. In the past we received them in a separate box from the packaging and it was such a nice display box. Typical DW presentation. Now the box that its shipped in, with the shipping labels on it, is it’s “presentation” box. Obviously this is no major problem. But, given the continued price hikes year after year and the cost of a park ticket and the many new ways they have found to add a price to experiences, I just was left feeling a little cheated. I know they are a business and there number one goal is profit but I hope it does not become a trend to cut costs by cutting back on presentation. I just love the effort they usually put into presentation of all things Disney.

Does the box still have the nice graphics (I think it was a Castle photo) on the inside? If so, I'm fine with it. There are a lot of cuts made for pure profit that I don't agree with, but this one has a positive environmental impact as well.

Ummmm...who needs more trash? They should just ship them in bubble padded envelopes. Or, better yet not ship them at all. Airport arrivers could pick them up in a machine near ME, machine could let you pick the color, print name and add your tickets and room to it. Or you can pick them up at the front desk.

I do pick them up at my resort. I'm Canadian and I'm glad they won't ship them here. We don't get any of the trash sent. We get the necessities when we show up.

Many of you brought up a very good point that I did not consider, being environmentally conscience. That is much more important!
As a side note, we still have ours and use it to hold our wax tarts.

It’s been at least two Princess (rundisney) visits for me since they’ve been packaged like that (which means it changed as far back as late 2017), so this isn’t new, that’s for sure.

Those aren’t recyclable at all in most places (the plastic is capable of being recycled, but if it actually can be in your area is 100% dependent on your recycle facility. Even in recycle-friendly Washington state I know of no recycling facility that actually can recycle those)

A simple cardboard box is infinitely more recyclable than a bubble envelope.

We haven't gotten the box in the box for quite a while now. I think the last 4 or 5 sets of magic bands have come in a plain white box. Less waste.

From a marketing perspective, presentation is important - so I understand your point completely. If it weren't important, certain companies wouldn't work so hard at it. Ever got jewelry from Tiffany, or a pair of Tieks ballet flats? It's all about the packaging. My magic band shipped yesterday, and I didn't know they changed the packaging. Thanks for the warning. It wouldn't have ruined my day or anything, but I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't be a bit disappointed. So to the OP - I get it.
