Disappointing Visit to POTC

We're annual passholders and decided to take a brief jaunt today to the Magic Kingdom.

My son loves POTC, so we headed there first. The ride was definitely not up to par. The talking skull before the waterfall drop wasn't moving his "mouth." One of the Audio-Animatronics in the mayor dunking scene (the flute player) wasn't even moving, as well as one of the cats in the "Kitty, kitty, kitty" scene with the drunk pirate.

When we exited the ride, we had to wait for two Cast Members to finish their conversation before we could tell them about the problems with the ride. We were then told that they couldn't help us, and we should tell someone at the ride's entrance. While my husband and son browsed the gift shop, I walked over to the entrance where there was a group of 4 or 5 Cast Members standing around, including a manager. I told them about the pirates that were a bit "under the weather."

I truly felt like I wasn't being taken seriously when one Cast Member teased another for "messing with the cat again." No one thanked me, and I just walked away.

Unbelievable.

I'm sorry, I hate that. We had a similar situation at MK 2 or 3 trips ago. I felt like the supervisor was more concerned with appearing "cool" in front of the employees than the overall appearance of the park. Definitely a "whatever" attitude. I was afraid MK was going through management issues, as a couple of other DIS'ers had posted similar situations, but then I didn't see anything else negative. I have read that they are shutting down POC for maintenance soon (I think while we are there) so hopefully that will take care of the technical part of the problem.

When we were there they closed POTC and Hall of Presidents for "technical difficulties". Not fun.
