Disappointed with Rose and Crown

We had dinner at R&C on Thurs night. We have been there many times and I specifically go for Harry Ramsden Fish and Chips. Well....they "changed chefs and recipes" according to waitress. Fish and chips were ok, but not great. DH had steak, it was good, not great. Overall atmosphere was very loud.

They had the "sides" down in the outdoor patio cause it was raining and there was a large party of men drinking and hootin and hollerin. Made for a very unenjoyable dinner. We asked to be moved, but there was no available table. Limited seating due to not being able to use outside.

Gonna put this restaurant on back burner for now.

I had fish and chips there once. It may have been the worst food that I have ever had in my life. Strong statement I know but it was bad.

We ate there earlier this year and while it wasn't horrible, it just wasn't anything to write home about. British food isn't that difficult to cook at home, so I don't really feel like spending a ton to have it at Disney. Besides, Heinz Sticky Toffee Pudding in a can is just as yummy as theirs. :P

We had a great meal this summer. Great seats for Illuminations too. Right on the water. The fish & chips were great. I heard Pete's review and was worried but we took a chance. I don't know if we got lucky or if all of you were unlucky. Service was good, I've had better but she was good.

I think Harry Ramsden is out. The name has been removed from the counter service and it's not mentioned on the main restaurant's menu anymore.

Rose & Crown is still one of our favorites in Epcot, mostly because of the fish and chips. True, we can get fish and chips a lot of places and it might even be better, but when you spend the day at any WDW park you do have to eat something, sometime. Their fish and chips used to be much better and they used to have a decent prime rib. Unfortunately, things have changed throughout WDW and good meals are getting harder to find. We're planning on going to Epcot this coming Friday and have no idea where we'll be eating. A few weeks ago Rose & Crown was good (I think they were still using the "Harry Ramsden" reference), but we've eaten there two or three times in a row recently and have ADRs there for Christmas Day.

:scared1:I just made an ADR for the Candlelight Processional. Anyone else have a bad experience lately? We love their fish and chips.

I just ate there weds for lunch, fish and chips were of the same quality as our local bars that call themselves pubs haha, good but not amazing, the cider and black, half and half and black and tan were all great, as was the scotch cake :)

Oh, dear. I hope things haven't changed too much, as R & C is one of the few Disney restaurants we visit now. My son and I like the vegetarian entree. They used to have vegetable curry wihich we loved, then they changed to a vegetable pie.

The first time we got it it was just awful and tasted like cheap leftovers. We gave it one more try and the recipe had changed, the quality had gone up. We have reservations there next month so I hope things haven't gone downhill again.

OMG I never heard of Heinz sticky toffee pudding...where can I get it? Do most grocery stores carry it? Is it in with the Jello and pudding? We had a bad experience at R&C; it was very hot and they seated us outside. I asked to sit inside but they didn't have any inside dining available even tho we had ADRs. Then the waitress spilled an order of fries on us, the fish was inedible and I got sick later that night. We certainly won't be back.

Our Fresh & Easy store carries it, and it is near the cake mixes.

We had lunch there in August and we enjoyed it. We had fish & chips and bangers & mash and the food was good. The service was excellent.

I loved the fish and chips at Rose and Crown and their outside counter. Whatever recipe they switched to they should change back. I won't be in a hurry to eat there again.

We had a very good meal there in Sept. We thought the fish was just wonderful and the steak was very tastey as well. Sorry you had a bad experience.

We had the fish and chips there a few weeks ago and while it was not as good as it used to be, it was still good. Disney-run restaurants are changing and not for the good. You just have to decide what you still like out of the changes.
