Disappointed, resorts are all full tomorrow...

I got great news today and to celebrate we were thinking about surprising our kids with an impromptu trip to WDW tomorrow (to finish our few days in the parks that we missed due to Hurricane Frances in September). Well believe it or not, the only opening in ANY of the resorts was the Presidential Suites at the BWI and BC! I called some resorts directly to check and they confirmed they were full (would love a Value or Moderate this trip). CRO suggested I try again in the morning but it's not looking good. I'm bummed! Any ideas? (Don't want to stay offsite). Flights were also astronomical but do-able if we could find reasonably priced accomodations. TIA... :genie:

I would still plan on going and if you can't find anything on site, how about one of the Downtown Disney hotels. Not exactly the same but close. And when you get there, maybe one of the resorts will have unexpected availability.

Im always surprised how the Pop can be packed...Its such a HUGE property. You should definitely try the DTD hotels, they're pretty classy and close to all the action. It can't be that bad! How many nights are you planning on staying? Maybe a suite will be worth it? Have you asked about concierge rooms? Definitely call in the morning...

Is next weekend a possibility?

I hope everything works out!

Thanks for your replies. We have considered one of the DTD hotels (with the thought of moving if something opens up) but we are definately on a Value budget, especially with the airfare being well over $1200 for the four of us - booking this close there are no bargains to be found. We are planning on 3 nights (Fri-Sun) but won't arrive until almost MN Friday so don't want to spend a real lot just to sleep there the first night. We would just really love to get into either PC or one of the AS's to keep our costs down. We keep thinking maybe we'll drive somewhere else like NYC or Maine but our hearts are at WDW. (Until today I honestly wasn't sure when or if I'd ever make it back there again so DH and I would be happy if we could get this to work)...So you think I should bite the bullet and just go? PC did say they had "walk in" rates but with no availablity for tomorrow when I called - said we could take our chances?? I'm going to call again tonight and in the morning too. I bet something will open up... :magnify: BTW, I've never stayed at one of the DTD resorts, which ones do you recommend?

I went out to Expedia.com out of curiousity.
The Dolphin was the first to pop up. You can get flight and car ressies also. Or just hotel by itself!!! All available tomorrow!!!
You might also check w/ Dreams Unlimited.
Good Luck....There's got to be a way!!!!!!!!!!!!::yes::

OK, yes I was able to get the Dolphin (at the nurses rate for 2 of the 3 nights yet- sshh wasn't going to tell anyone :teeth: ) so that is a definite possibility. It would be about $600+ though and again not getting in till MN tomorrow night (so that would be almost $2K just for air/hotel for 3 nights - not including tix!! :faint: ). But we do love being in the Epcot resorts area and they certainly have a lot of amenities.

I did just check the rates for SWA for the third week in December when we also have some time and the fares were pretty cheap, about $600 or so, half of what they would be tomorrow. And PC has availabilty. We've never been to WDW at Christmas time so that is looking like a good solution for us. I know the Mousesavers codes expired last month but does anyone remember what it was so I can try it anyway? (no longer listed on website and didn't write it down).

Thank you again. We will make it there - if not this month, next... ::yes::

Just not being able to find a room would be enough to make me not want to go (well at that time anyway). If the resorts are booked imagine what the parks will be like. I went last year from Dec 14-17 and LOVED it. The weather was cold (40's but being a Floridian I enjoyed it). If you wait til Mid December maybe you can also do MVMCP. The little ones will love it. This year because others are also taking small vacations I have to plan my Xmas trip the Saturday following Thanksgiving (not liking that but better than nothing). I would have preferred to wait 3 more weeks but can't.

But definitely wait til mid December. Seeing the Christmas decorations really put me in the holiday spirit. I guess I didn't mention I work all Holidays so sometimes my attitude is "If I have to work its just like any other day, no big deal". But I have to remember that I still have a DD11 and she loves her Santa.

Good Luck deciding,
Shirley

Isn't this "Jersey Week?" Why would it be so packed this week?

Yes it is, We where planning on going down for one last weekend of Food and Wine. And unless you wanted to fork out the big bucks for a hotel, nothing was available. So needless to say we're not going :(

But still have a trip for Dec :Pinkbounc :bounce: :earseek:

We just returned home and besides hearing those Jersey accents, we heart A LOT of British accents. Apparently, this is the time of year the kids are on school break.
