Disappointed - Renewal on AP

Last year I had upgraded my AP to a PAP (like alot of us did). I called DVC today to renew my pass and asked the cast member if I was able to do a renewal price on an AP since I was not renewing the PAP (too expensive without the discount). Since it was a different type of pass she told me that I had to pay full price for the AP not the renewal price.

Anyone else run into this?
 
I was under the impression that we would be able to renew the pass to either the AP or PAP without a problem. Did you try calling back and asking another DVC phone rep or calling the number for the AP dept and asking someone there? Sometimes different calls with different phone reps get much different answers!

I remember this but not where I heard it.
 
You might want to post this on the Theme Parks board for Cheshire to answer. But I don't think you can do the actual renewal over the phone. I think you have to do it in person within 30 days of your current pass expiring. You can order a voucher over the phone. Hopefully Cheshire can tell you whether a PAP can be renewed as an AP. I think I also remember reading that it is possible to do so.
 

Thanks for all the advice. I just wanted to order to AP and get the voucher for pick-up when I go in October since I had a little overtime money saved. I've renewed my AP before in the summer with no problem. I definitely will call back and try another rep.

I'll also post on Theme Parks - hopefully Cheshire will have good news for me. I never read anything about not being able to renew as an AP.

At the time of renewal, you can upgrade or downgrade your AP and you will receive the renewal price. The person you talked to was at a call center and does not routinely deal with tickets or understand them.
 
I've tried to renew my PAP through MS the last two days (also going to a regular AP) and they keep telling me the ticketing system is down. Both CM's have seemed confused as to what to do so I don't know if it is REALLY down or they just don't know how it's done.
 
MS does a pretty good job making DVC reservations, but ticketing, DME, and other reservations are not their primary functions, they are middle men.

You will always get better, more accurate service with less errors dealing directly with the group responsible for the product that you are inquiring about.

Don't give up hope and keep trying. It took me three tries before I was able to reach a CM at Member Services who was aware of the proper procedure for renewing our PAP's within the 30 day renewal window back in June.
