Disappointed in Napa Rose

That's a rather foolish response, as Disney treats are a one-off on the days that you're there, but the pervasive free refills is a mentality that everyone's gotten used to.

Still, I get your point, with a small correction: Only men can control what they put into (or take out of) their own bodies, in the US at least.
Bread and Chips used to and at some places are still FREE

Its the places nickel and diming you that made this less common but when you are spending $80 +on dinner give people bread or chips. Disney did this at many places but after covid took them away to save money has nothing to do with health

What's your price cut-off where it'd be OK to stop the bread and chips?

Teasing, of course. But I was referring more to your "food and drinks at Disney are not good for you," than to addressing the ethics of not providing bread or chips at meals anymore. To wit, most other countries charge a head charge for bread/flatware/dishware usage, but somewhere along the line, much like our challenge of drinking a half gallon of sugary drinks because we ordered one, it's become de rigeur here in the States.

Also in other counties they don't have to Tip

So sure, I'll pay for chips when I don't need to pay another 15+% on top of my bill for paying workers for what Disney and other restaurants in the US refuse to pay its employees to live.

Or tax! Well, they do, but it's included in menu prices. I"m just back from Spain, France, and Italy, and was flummoxed at how "cheap" everything was on menus, and those prices were all-in prices. Wine is also cheap. We got reserve wines with some age for 45 euros. The same bottle in a US restaurant would be $120, plus tax and tip.

Yeah, bread service at all Disney restaurants I know went away after covid.

Surprised honestly they haven't starting charging for refills at Restaurant's yet for Soda/tea. Disney just wants to nickle and dime you every chance they can
We had bread service at the Blue Bayou a few nights ago
It’s not great bread but hey, it was there!

We have tried Napa Rose three times, and it finally got the 3 strikes you're out rule.

I am sorry you had a mediocre visit, OP. Sadly, that is what it has been for us. I did enjoy an appetizer I had last visit, but the main course was meh. And my husbands pork chop was half fat. It was terrible. For those prices, nope.

Maybe someday we will want to try again, but it won't be anytime soon.

We wanted to go to Storytellers Christmas eve but wow, booked solid, so I made a reservation for Napa Rose and the family over ruled and now we are at Goofys Kitchen. Pretty bad when you can't top Goofys Kitchen. Menu is always a little strange and very expensive so I am good with Goofys

I would also take Storytellers or Goofy's any day over Napa Rose

Storytellers is my favorite since I don't have kids but also fun to still see characters, and normally have great service too. Goofy's can be bit chaotic if busy- but again at least feel welcome and friendly Cast vs Napa

Yeah, what is the deal with Napa Rose? They have consistently snubbed us and after the last disastrous visit year before last, we threw in the towel. But why the terrible service time after time? I could understand a one-off but this was EVERY visit since they reopened post-Covid. I don't understand it. We're polite, we're nice, we don't ask for extras or expect to be treated like royalty. But we also don't expect to be treated like unwelcome interlopers when we've made a point of dressing up, acting appropriately, and are going in eager to enjoy a great experience. When you pay those prices and are excited to be there, only to be treated like something that accidentally came in on the bottom of someone's shoe, that's not going to leave a positive impression and definitely won't entice me to return.

yeah I don’t get the appeal at all. Esp the menu. I usually have trouble deciding at a restaurant because so many things appeal to me. But in this case I begrudgingly ordered the Sturgeon. It was “fine” but rather bland, nothing interesting about it. It was either that or go with a filet or short ribs (and if I order something like that it’s typically a last resort when nothing else appeals to me).

The Cali (sorry if I offend 😉) grill on the other hand makes me want to order the whole menu. Sushi esp is kick butt.

I remember I said something similar about my experience at Napa Rose during my last trip to DL and I got attacked by a few posters on this board 😅

It was a one and done for me back then so it's unfortunate to hear that it hasn't gotten any better. The food was 100% not worth the price.

They offer bread with both the regular menu and the Fantasmic package. The difference is that it is $13.00 off the regular menu. It is included in the price of the Fantasmic package.
Thank you!!! I had read it was included with the Fantasmic package but had no idea you could still get it with regular dining if you paid. ☺️

The bread was good but nothing to write home about. Steakhouse 71 in the contemporary pulls the same BS. The bread is quite good but should not be an up charge. Pretty sure the mouse can handle the $1.55 to costs to make and serve.

LOL, how dare you have anything other than a glowing opinion about all things within the Disney bubble? :rotfl:

I'll never understand that. Especially with food because it is so subjective. When I am researching I want to hear the good, the bad, and the ugly -- even more so if it is a place that has a hefty price tag by Disney standards!

I have been attacked as well for WDW saying schoolbread and Il Mulino are both overhyped and not enjoyable. :rolleyes2 crazy

At least the DISboards are move civil. I was downvoted to oblivion on the Disneyland subreddit because I said the fake cookie smell that they spray at you on Incredicoaster makes me feel sick and that I think it's just a ploy to sell more Jack Jack num num cookies. Then I made the mistake of asking why I was being downvoted for my opinion...which led to more downvotes. Reddit can be a crazy place 😂

Both Napa Rose and Victoria and Albert's have been pretty mediocre since covid. Most people that drink a ton seem to like it, but the food itself is not worth the expense.
100% everything took a major downturn at Disney post covid. Its really frusterating.
