Disappointed in 50's Prime Time

We followed the advice of friends and ate at Prime Time. We were very disappointed. The environment was very loud and not as interactive with the servers as we had expected. Food was okay. Just okay; we've definitely had better on property. Overpriced too, we thought. I know lots of people love this place, but it's just not for us.

I'd have to agree with you. We waited a very long time for our table with an ADR. The server we had was somewhat entertaining but it was more of a spiel than actually enjoying it or being into it. The food is just OK at best and the menu does not have very many choices. I am glad that I tried it once for the experience but I probably won't go back.

I just booked this for my trip at the end of November. I'm sorry to hear that it isn't up to snuff. Anybody else have any thoughts on service, food, etc.?

Don't change your reservations just because a couple of people didn't like it. You can find people who don't like every restaurant on Disney property.
To the OP, sorry you didn't like it. It's one of our favorites. Maybe you caught them on an off day?

I've had many experiences at 50s Prime Time. Sometimes the servers were better actors than other times, but every time there were some servers who were very entertaining, and very much in-character. Sometimes you have to look over to another table though, because not every server can be a consummate actor.

The food is great, and absolutely not overpriced at all. 50s Prime Time is one of the most reasonably-priced restaurants in any of the WDW theme parks, and the food and overall experience is well-worth the money.

I agree to try it and I am glad I did. You will find all kind of reviews on here. If the menu is up to your liking I would keep it. It might turn out to be your favorite place. You just never know.

I love 50's Prime Time and it is my must do every trip. I don't mind when our server doesn't play it up with us a lot. I enjoy watching others be haggled than getting haggled myself.

We really enjoy the food and it is something different than what we get at other restaurants.

I take each review with a grain of salt.

I completely agree. The prices are very reasonable, and the food very good for what you are getting. I ate there last week, and was very happy we decided to go there. The Pot Roast was excellent, definitely the best thing we had at our table. Fried chicken was very good as well.

Some waiters are better than others, like with any restaurant. Its hit or miss.

I really enjoyed our time at 50s Prime Time, so did picky DH. Our server was not interactive at all, just took our order and that was it. However, that doesn't deter me away from trying again. I thought the prices were fine not very expensive at all, not a large amount of menu choices, but that was not a major problem at all. Overall, it was a nice dinner that we had.

We did 50s in October. We enjoyed it, but probably won't do it again. Because there are so many restaurants we haven't tried yet. I do think that the food was overpriced for a 'homecooked meal'. If I'm going to spend $65 on 2 adults and 1 child, I want something a little more fancy than fried chicken and meatloaf. But it was good food, I'll definitely give it that.

I absolutely love Primetime! We have to do it every time we go. We've always had a good server who was really into it. And we all like to play along, so it's a lot of fun. As for the food, I've had several things on the menu and I've never been disappointed. And since we are on the dining plan, I don't remember even looking at the prices. At any rate, I think it's well worth the money.

Prime Tine is one of our "must do's" as well.

I don't find the prices to be bad. We almost always get the fried chicken dinner and it's enough for two to split. And the PB&J shakes are to die for! Yummmmm-o!

And as others have said, the servers can be a hit or miss and that's fine. If we have an interactive experience -- great! If not, then that's fine, too. We love the atmosphere and in my opinion, the food is great.

We've been going to the Prime Time since our 1995 trip. It's a family favorite. Some years the food has been better than other's (I really miss the Grandpa's fishing trip meal). All in all it really is good and it is a great value for what you get. My DH has always loved the chicken dinner. We usually go 2 times when we go to WDW for 2 weeks. This year we have 2 lunches and 2 dinners planned here.

I say give it a try. Don't let other's sway you from trying a place.

I'm sorry the OP had such a bad experience. We had a wonderful experience 5 out of the 6 times we were there. The bad experience was in the middle somewhere on the Fourth of July, 2003? but in December Topher was one of the best servers we have ever had--he was very attentive and funny. The food was good and again, I too thought comfort food at comfort prices. All places have an off day and sometimes things are busier than the CM's can handle--this is a place where it is more fun when you get good "show". On that July 4ththe food was fine, but the "show" was off--I'm sure it had more to do with crazy crowded than it had to do with anything else.

When you make your ADR's for Prime Time, can you request a particular server? We LOVE "Auntie Claire" and my DBF said he has to have her.

You cannot make such a request when you make your ADRs, but can when you check in for your meals.

I'm going to keep the ADR. We have a party of 7 and the menu sounded great! We will also be celebrating 2 birthdays. I'm hoping this would be a fun place to do it.

I have been to PTC twice and never loved it, even though we really expected that we would. We found the food to be mediocre and the interaction was perfunctory. There was nothing really wrong; I am not slamming the place. I just doesn't do anything magical for me. I do love the decor, though. The first time we went into the lobby, I commented to DH that there were items on the walls that had clearly been lifted from his parents' den! Anyway, clearly there are different restaurants for different tastes, since two of our favorites are the much maligned SciFi cafe (for the atmosphere/not the food) and the H & V (yes for the food!!). So I recommend that you go with an open mind and realize that you could certainly enjoy PTC even if it isn't someone else's cup of tea.
