Disappointed for First Time with HDDR

I'm baack. We had a great time at HDDR. Food was as good as always. The beer was cold and the show was great. And as usual at Disney, I ended up as part of the show. I was Dolly's tooter that helped her beat Six Bits.(At Epcot I was King Arthur and at Monsters Inc I was Sully)
BTW this was my 8th time seeing HDDR. Loved it every time.

So glad to hear this! We're going the first week of January and paying OOP ($200+), and I'd be seriously disappointed if we'd spent all that money on a lackluster experience.

The story going around is that the show had to be changed for legal reasons (yes, even after it has been performed for about 30 years.)

We've never been to HDDR, so I'm hoping someone who was also a first timer can give some feedback from a recent show.

We wouldn't know what we're missing from previous shows, but if it's overly cheesy with poor service and mediocre food, I'd rather plan for something else!

and hope it is as good as alweays. They have numerous sets of performers so there can be a difference in one show to the next and delivery has a lot to do with how you perceive the show.

To us the food has always been ery good. I'm on a low carb thing so I will be focusing on the chicken and ribs...the chicken is always wonderful!

Special requests are alays honored if possible.

We went last week for the first time and had a great time. We had never gone before, so we don't know what we were "missing", but we thought the show was funny and the food was pretty good...we also had really good service. The server was messing with DBF and literally brought him a new beer whenever he was halfway done with the last one...which DBF took as a challenge and would just guzzle them down...about 10 beers in by the end of the show he got picked to go on stage...hah it was pretty funny!! We had a good experience and would go back again.

My family loves Hoop Dee Doo but we aren't going this year. We want to try some other resturants and last year it was good but our server was rough. I don't drink alot as a rule but the "all you can drink" should be more than one glass full of ice. I wanted to get at least two glasses so I feel that I got my money's worth of sangeria. The strawberry shortcake was just ok. Now performers change on a regular basis doesn't surprise me. Sometimes we see the same actors and sometimes there are new ones. Just depends who is working that night.
Next year we plan on going back with family that have never been, so I hope service gets better.

We took some first timers last week and they loved it. I didn't think the food was still as good (especially the ribs) but after 2 glasses of sangria, it tasted better.

They also fired the great cast that had been there for so long around March. I think I heard they got a new director, too. And yes Disney got sued for using the Hoop Dee Doo polka for 30 some years and not paying any royalties. We actually have a 78 rpm copy of the original record. The show to me is just not the same without the HDD polka. And if they are hiring new servers forget it..one of the reasons we go back is to see the wonderful Jeanette, who's been there for 37 years!

We had that awful shortcake last time..yuck!

We went to Hoop-De-Doo for our second time on Halloween this year. We loved it! Yes it's changed but the show was still great, my kids (8&10) laughed the entire time. The food was great -BBQ ribs, fried chicken, mashed potatoes, corn, and beans. I thought the strawberry shortcake for dessert was even better this time around! Our server was very nice, the performers are amazing - we will go back every time we take a trip to Disney World! Yes it's expensive but it's worth it in our opinion. We've done the late show at 9:30pm both times, we're on Pacific time so it works for us - both times everyone was seated in Category 1 seating because there were so few people at the late show. We were front and center, second table from the stage. The kids really enjoyed swinging their napkins around over their heads and playing the washboard with their spoons! It's corney but fun! Some people like it some people don't.

and the food was good. The chicken is always good! The ribs could have been cooled a bit longer. The beans were good and the cornbread outstanding...then there is the bottomless beer mugs...what can I say about that?

The show? Different that the last time I saw it but still as corny and entertaining as always!

We will return....heck...why not?

We tried it for the 1st time last week. We found the show funny and entertaining. We all liked the chicken, sides, and dessert. We all agreed that the ribs were just OK. We liked the show and we are glad we did it, but we agreed that we do not need to make a return trip anytime soon.

This can't possibly be true. I was just there is late september and it was the same Johhny Ringo I saw 2 years ago and the same Jim Handy I saw 8 years ago.

We went to the HDDR in august and had a great time. We were on the free DDP, so didn't pay. I would not have paid full price for it, but I would go back again if we were on the DDP again.
It was the one evening meal my seven year old brother didn't fall asleep in! sorry to hear your experience wasn't as good as last time.
