Disappointed at saratoga springs

I love my DVC, but I have to complain to somebody.......we were returning to Saratoga Springs last week in the afternoon and the security car was blocking the road talking to two women. And talking and talking.........There was a bus in front of us and 3 buses and 2 cars behind us by the time they moved! They could very easily have moved up or over to let us all continue on. The WORST part: then the security car is at the gate and talking and laughing and carrying on with the attendant! While we sit there! We did not go in the automated lane because the bus was there. We ended up waiting for 3 buses to go through and then had to back up and go through that lane. There was no excuse for that. On a side note...took the ferry to DTD for the first time in about 4 years -- Captain was extremely rude! I was soo stunned at so many things this trip......

Sounds like you should be upset with Disney Security and Transportation, not SSR.

:earsboy: Bill

I was just about to post that. A security guard who it sounds like had probably already resigned and was working out his last few days, and a boat driver who might have learned from his wife that she was leaving him and so he was in a bad mood that day... these two fellas are not going to ruin the rest of my vacation. If the boat guy got you to your destination safely, then he did his job. Just because it's Disney doesn't mean that everything needs to be a sing-a-long when in motion. I've really never understood that entitled attitute. So, if I'm following this post correctly, boat drivers should be all smiles and have fun at work, but security personnel should not. Hmmm...

Wow! We were there this summer and all staff went above and beyond. We've never experienced that, and I hope we never do. I would have gotten their names and reported them to the Manager

Agreed. This thread should not be directed at the resort. I don't even really find anything in this thread to be particularly "post worthy". How long did the security guard fiasco delay you? One minute? Three minutes? Did it really alter anything in the grand scheme of your vacation? Perhaps the security guard was going above and beyond to help these women with questions, make them feel at home, etc., you know, the things you wish the boat captain would have done for you.

I have to chuckle everytime I hear "The CM was sooo rude" type threads. While I don't know the circumstances, and you may very well have just come across a downright "rude" CM, I always try to look at the other side of the arguement. Were you rude in the way in which you approached the CM? Perhaps the person directly before you was? I know, we all hold Disney CM's to a higher standard, and the customer is always "right". But dealing with the general public, especially the tens of thousands that each CM comes in contact with daily, has to be trying at times. They are human, and they do have breaking points. Hopefully, it was just one of those circumstances, and you caught him at a weak moment.

Always making allowances for employees leads to poor customer service. Folks the Mouse DEPENDS expect exemplary customer service for the premium price charged. I don't think it would hurt anyone by reporting, either by email or letter, using the times and locations. It's a 'safe' way of having customer service issue brought forward.

When we bought DVC the driver that took us to the park of our choice made a comment about us be 'soaked'. Unfortunately for him he said it in front of our guide so it was addressed.

So you were "offended" by the driver making casual conversation, observing that you were wet from the rain??? :confused3

Am I missing something here? Did he dump a bucket of water on you, then proceed to inform you that you're "all wet"? :)

Yup....Wrong title for a thread that should be about what it was....being held up at the gate by a security guard. Did you ask the security guard why he was blocking the road? Did you mention your dissatisfaction with the resort ot member services?

Oh good grief. Talk about sanctimonious harping.

OP, I've experienced rudeness on the part of gate guards as well, and did lay it to the resort. If you accept mediocrity that is what you will get.

I did report the gate guard in the instance to which I am referring.

I've had one boat captain who was rude, and unpleasant and I've never seen him since that one time. He was a poor pilot as well and knocked the boat quite hard into the dock so I would guess that had more to do with his not being there any longer more than his attitude.

There is a tendency it seems, for the guards at SSR to talk, talk, talk. I'm not sure what the deal is, but it does affect your perception of the resort.

If it impacted your trip, best thing you can do is report it. Walt Disney World employs 60,000 people so they aren't going to weed out all of the bad apples on their own.

Commiserating on a web forum isn't going to fix the problem. But if it's reported--even with vague details--Disney will make an effort to identify the problem. If the same CM is linked to multiple incidents, it can be grounds for disciplinary action.

Talking about things that were displeasing on a web forum shares the information and allows for dialogue.

After all, that's is exactly what the DIS is all about. Sharing information of anything related to Disney; good, bad, wonderful, terrible...

The beauty of Disney is that there is something for everyone. So if one person doesn't care for a given resort, there is another resort that will suit them nicely.

The actual resort had nothing to do with the OP's dissatisfaction, hence the reaction by most folks here in this particular thread. A crabby boat captain and a long-winded security guard (neither directly employed at SSR) have nothing to do with the resort experience itself. If the SSR bus driver was rude, you wouldn't trash the resort itself. I think that post would be better suited in the transportation forums under a different title, and this is no different. SSR seems to be the subject of some negative posts around here lately, so let's not defame the resort over something unrelated to it.

Sure, the OP has a right to complain, report his/her experience to management, the FBI... whatever floats his/her boat. Was there much to report and complain about here? I guess that is what's really up for debate, and my opinion is "No".

Debate?? I didn't realize when we post here on the DIS we need to meet the satisfaction of others on what we post. Whether it's post worthy or not is strictly up to the moderators of these boards. Perhaps if you find something not post worthy you just don't read it. I don't always agree with what someone has posted, but that in no way means they can't post it and in no way means I should debate whether that person had a legitimate reason to post. So, the thread wasn't about what you thought it was about, just go on to reading another thread.

wow and here I thought it was Thanksgiving weekend and the beginning of the holiday season, does not see like much Good Will toward Men around lately.

Just saying.

Unless there is a dead body in my room, it takes a lot for me to want to complain about a trip. In fact I don't do it.

Unless the dialogue includes "sanctimonious harping", apparently. :rolleyes1

Yes, there is quite a difference between dialogue and sanctimonious harping. :rotfl:

Reasonable minds will differ. It's the manner in which the differences are expressed that matters.

This has nothing to do with meeting mine, or anyone else's satisfaction. I, along with others, are calling the OP out for bashing the resort, when in fact the resort did nothing wrong. End of discussion.

My opinion still stands, that regardless of who is to blame for the OP's disgruntled feelings, they're hardly worth mentioning. But it is a free country, and semi-free speaking forums, and if posting on here makes him/her feel better, than nock your socks off. Let's just call a spade a spade, that's my only point.

Pass the cranberry sauce!
