aaack HOLD ME BACK!! :faint: :faint: :faint:

Lynda if that last post didnt make sense, its because I hit post after my ds 21 called, and I just knew... (he says "how did you know?" and I say, you're my first born, I've been able to read you like a book")

He intends to get engaged to his girlfriend... :faint:

"HELLO?" DS.... you havent graduated, you havent a job > WE CANT AFFORD TUITION...

*sigh...
I calmly talk and he sends me the link to the ring!! (HOLD ME BACK)

http://www.tiffany.com/expertise/diamond/rings/engagement_three_ring.aspx?ring=sapphdia&

Now, I ALWAYS wanted something from Tiffany's, but am too darn practical!!

I think I"m going to go have a good cry!

Don't cry! Be joyful! DH and I got engaged at age 20 had no money, I wasn't done with school...as a matter of fact I went to law school a year after we got married and DH worked as a parking attendant making next to nothing. I took out oodles of loans, but here we are 23 years later, still happily married, and doing fine with 3 beautiful daughters (do I sound like a game show contestant yet?) The ring is beautiful.

Pigget, I am also very sensitive to many fragrances, but don't think I have ever gotten a migraine from them, thank goodness! They just affect my voice and breathing, which is bad enough  I have always wondered what it is about glaring light that can trigger a migraine.

I'm glad the Y has ALL types... there are actually more non-buffs than buffs. And yesterday, when the "Cardio Challenge" instructor asked us to jump... well, this chick doesn't jump yet... so I faked it.:rolleyes1
Dene', you should have seen me and some of the other "fluffy" ladies in my water exercise step class jumping this week and last! It was pretty hilarious. Our instructor had to face us away from the window to the other pool because some of the male lifeguards were watching us :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc and one of the ladies was having issues with her swimsuit top :scared1: I must say, though, that it is easier to jump in the water . . .

OOOOOhhhhhh!!!! I love the Fish Fry thing! I never knew about it until I started dating my DBF (he is from Wisconsin). :goodvibes We don't do those kinds of things down South - atleast not on a large scale like they do in the Midwest. It is so cool! They figured out a way to turn a not so good/fun thing (can't eat meat on Fridays) into a really cool thing - FRIDAY FISH FRY!!! :cool1:
I'm going to try to talk my DH into going this week. You're right - there sure are lots of them in my area. I'm hoping they also serve some kind of fish that isn't fried. I know better than to try to go to Red Lobster on a Friday during Lent!

Uma, I sure hope Norah isn't sick for your trip. IT'S GETTING SO CLOSE!!!!!!!!!!

UtahMama:
Did I read correctly that you have lost 150# since the last baby?
WOW!
How do you stay focused? I only want to lose 30-40 and I'm struggling. It is so discouraging when you see little or no movement in that scale or even worse when it goes the wrong way.

I'm just really impressed. I hope one day I can say I lost my 40 (and never find it again)

I did change my driving route home from work. There is a McD's and those egg mcmuffins are like magnets to my car so I now get right on the interstate and avoid the old 4 lane with its building upon building of sinful temptation-

guess ya'll have figured out my weakness- fast food. Next is bread and carbs in general, I can easily pass on the chocolate- but pass me the basket of rolls and butter- NOT!!! I'm trying and when I read of each of ya'll's successes and sometimes your stumbles I am amazed. You guys keep my wanting to try harder-

Thanks for being there - :)
I did. But I gained like 50 back during and after DD2. It was easy as could be last time. HARD this time. I'm a lazy dieter in search of weight loss magic. I wonder if they''d do the lap-band surgery to only lose 40 pounds? I'm a non-exerciser lazy dieter

Sparkie - I think we've all got our vices that can keep us from reaching our goals. Surprisingly, fast food isn't one of mine. I think it is the fact that I have to sit there in the drive through line and wait to order. It gives my brain time to think about what I am doing, and if I really need that Double Whopper with Cheese. Or would I be happier going to a Subway or Quiznos the next block over to get something just as tasty, and a whole lot better for me.

My two main vices are sweets and bread. I love, love, love chocolate. I know that I could keep chocolate in the house and only have a piece a night. But the problem would be limiting myself to one piece. For me, one would become two, which would become four. And I might repeat this two or three times a night until 1/2 box of candy is gone.

And bread is tough for me to pass up. I don't know if it is the carbs that I crave, but I just adore a good loaf of bread. Whether it is spice bread or maybe a pumpernickel or possibly a marble rye. I am a huge bread fan.

So hang in there. Eventually you'll figure out exactly what it is that is keeping you from losing. And then you'll just have to work on correcting it.

Bread, chips, crackers and cheese are my weaknesses. I cant do sweets very much or I'd be in DEEP doo doo.

I am stunned at the St. Bernard's mama for not restraining her dog. Poor Molly!

I'm still clear back a few pages. I'm catchin up!

Norah is magically much better today! Thank goodness for answered prayers.

Dallen's ;) (DS8) science fair project was one of 4 in the 3rd grade to make it to the school's fair. He got a cool green satin ribbon. :rolleyes1

Hi Everyone!

Please pray for my husband's family. His aunt is dying and her children are taking it really hard. Her lung cancer is in its last stage and about two weeks ago she developed pneumonia. Needless to say the pneumonia became her death warrant. She is in an unresponsive state and is being given morphine every two hours. I'm on my way back to nursing home to be with the family. Please pray for her. I hate to see her suffer. :sad1:

 for you and your family and of course prayers too!

UMama,

I'm in search of some weight loss magic myself!

Did you take off the slippers yet?

I'm not exactly sure what the solution is to your St Bernard issue, but I did once have an incident when walking my beagle puppy where another dog actually took my puppy's whole snout in her mouth! :scared1: And I thought sure there was going to be blood everywhere when we got her off, but there wasn't. Not a scratch! And the whole time I kept telling myself to try to remain calm, and afterwards we moved on, and I kept remaining calm. And kept walking. And the next day I took her back by that same house, but we didn't stop to chat. I knew that if I freaked out, Jasper would sense it and probably freak out herself, and I kept walking and took her back by the house the next day in hopes that she would not develop a fear of that house or going for walks in general. (She was pretty young at the time, and I didn't want this incident to mess her up bigtime.) She was fine the next day and has been ever since. So, I wish you luck with your walk tonight. I hope it goes smoothly! :)

I LOVE that you were concerned with her mental health too! I love my wuppies that much too! Clifford and Amber are my furbabies:love:

I'll just have a small salad at every restaurant!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
Pixie.......have you done HDDR before? I'm debating. DH really likes a good steak. Not sure sure he'll see my reasoning if fried chicken shows up. :confused3
...but on the positive I kept up, and didnt poot not one time!!!:thumbsup2 think I even got an honorable eye contact from total hard body instructor
WOO-HOOTY, HARLEY! :rotfl2:
About a month ago, I was walking on the treadmill at the Y and overheard 3 parents planning "their kids'" science fair projects... as I science teacher, that is one of the many reasons I DON'T assign them.:sad2:
Dene......When the kids ask for my "help" which is actually code for "could you please do most of the work"....I always say something smart like "No thanks. I passed fourth grade already." But with science projects, it's a different story. Fourth graders just aren't mature enough to complete a big project like that without some adult assitance. My kids didn't always get the best grade but they did do most of the work themselves. Bravo to you for realizing that most kids can't do the projects. Middle school is the right age for science projects IMHO.
Hope you all are staying or getting healthy, too! And, if you haven't already, GET THE FLU SHOT! :rotfl2:
V!! For crying out loud, I hope you feel better soon. Seems like you've been nothing but sick this winter. Here ya go.
B: honey wheat english muffin w/ff strawberry cream cheese (190) yogurt smoothie (60)
S: light Activia yogurt (70)
L: SBD wraps w/Jello (220)
S: 94% ff popcorn mini bag (100)
S: 2% string cheese (70)
D: turkey & swiss on whole grain bread w/light mayo (about 570) ff/sf Dulce de Leche Jello pudding (60)
S: WW lemon cake (80)

TOTAL: 1420 calories & about 84 oz. of water
:thumbsup2 YUM!!!
3/5 of my house is sick. DS9 has missed 3 days of school and I have missed 2.5 days of work. That means less money for the Mouse. :sad1:
S'late.......I feel your pain on the sick kiddos. Hope everybody's better soon.
If projects MUST BE GOOD- then do it yourself. Otherwise it will look like a 4th grader did it.
Glad somebody can speak up on this issue. I don't have the nerve. Can we start a petition.....STOP ELEMENTARY SCIENCE PROJECTS FOREVER. ;)
Chad thinks I need to be put in a bubble. He is not kidding. Stop laughing. I so do not need a bubble. Would it make my butt look big? :rotfl:
:rotfl2: I love you, Dawn! What a great sense of humor you have in spite of all the issues you face. You are my hero! :thumbsup2
And now I want another! I mustn't!
LYNDA......NNNOOOOOOOOOO! Step away from the crack, I mean cookies! Is that a bug on the cookies? I think it is!

He intends to get engaged to his girlfriend... :faint:
The ring is beautiful. Do you think he's ready? :confused3

What about Kona????? What are you thinking?!? ;)

:scared1: What are you doing to me??? You know I can't talk on the phone!! Well, I can talk, but nobody will understand me. I sound like Snuffy from JJ the Jet Plane!

Hey peeps...happy weds to you all. Having a long day here. Been on the go since about 6:30 and I am exhausted...again. What else is new, right?!

Saw so much while reading I wanted to comment on, but havent mastered the muti quote, so here is the abridged version-

To whomever said:-
They have a thing for bread and sweets? That is So me. I will actually choose a restaurant to eat at because they have good free bread with dinner.

-They dont run...me either. I have yet to find a sports bra that actually supports and doesnt squish the twins. I hate it. And I am lazy too.

-to whoever stepped on that blade...OUCHY! Feel better soon. I have sympathy pains for you...it seriously made my foot hurt reading that!

-the home vs. daycare person- I am a nanny. I have done it for a LONG time. The issue is finding the right person OR the right center. A good center can really help with education and social skills. A good nanny/caregiver can certainly do educational things at hoome just as well if not better than a center can, even an accredited one. Either is a good choice though, it all depends on your comfort zone. Personally, if you can afford to, I would rather have my kids at home with their stuff and no extra germs.:goodvibes As a nanny I would certainly consent to a nannycam, no problem. If they dont they are hiding something. Plain and simple. Cost is going to range big time depending on where you live too. There are quite a few websites you can use to search for sitters in you area. PM me and I will share them, not sure if it is Ok to share them here.

And the 2 I remember:
-Princess V- feel better soon. Our house has been stricken on and off for 3 weeks now, and I didnt get the shot either. I was on the list and off the list a few times and just never did it. Probably too late now.

-UM- if you find the magic weight loss pill, let us all know! I am too lazy, and I know that is part of my problem. I do well for a few days/weeks and then I get lazy with it. And if I see a gain on the scale I want to give up even though I know it is temporary.

That is all I can remember...I am so tired, and my H wont be home for at least another hour. DD took a late nap so she is raring to go still. HELP ME.

Am I supposed to go to Kona for B or D?

Speaking as someone who worked in the Daycare industry... Good Luck. I found a HUGE difference in quality and care in a "For profit" daycare vs a "NOT for profit daycare" usually Park Districts have not for profit daycares, but not all of them have full day daycare - the "FOR profit" center I worked in the tales I could tell you would make your hair curl - they would show off but good when parents were being courted, but when no parents were around, to make a bigger profit, it comes from somewhere, toys, paper supplies etc... DO look for lesson plans... look for NAEYC accredition (National Association for the Education of Young Children - they'll have a website!!) DO know you get what you pay for - and truly, when you think of your most prescious angels, dont you feel they deserve to be cared for by the best? I needed money, so I needed to be with my ds, so I went to work in the Daycare -

For someone to come in your home I would strongly reccommend a Nannycam - again, to protect those that have no voice!!

We have a center picked out, but just considering other options. WE my older 2 were in daycare they were in a NAEYC accredition center and we loved it. We have not been happy where we are and are on a list elsewhere. The elsewhere is not a problem--done 2 walk throughs and really liked it. Again just looking at options. As far as a nannycam goes--my DH is self-employed and video production is his job. WE would def. have these up. The main reason I was thinking about this is b/c it with DH travel schedule from August to MArch this would be a lot easier on me. Thanks for the advice.

Norah is magically much better today! Thank goodness for answered prayers.

Dallen's ;) (DS8) science fair project was one of 4 in the 3rd grade to make it to the school's fair. He got a cool green satin ribbon. :rolleyes1
WOOO HOOO on both of them. Congrats to Dallen.

DID EVERYBODY HEAR THAT???? She admitted that her mother was right!?!? There is hope that one day we will be vindicated! Glad you're feeling better, Shannon. How many teeth did you have out? Two? How long did the Dr. say the pain should last?
HAVE A GREAT DAY, PEEPS!

:goodvibes Yep my mom was right. And she is usually right most of the time. But I am one of those rare breeds of daughters that is freakishly close to their moms (very Gilmore-Girl-ish except my mom had me when she was 33, not 16). I get annoyed or frustrated with her of course, like I would with anyone really, but we have never had those awful teen years or slamming of the doors or talking back, etc. She's really my best friend.

Oh, and yes I only had 2 teeth out since thats all I had. The Dr. didn't really say how long the pain should last but it feels much better today. The only gross thing is I have this oral rinse that I have to use 3x a day. But one of the side effects is that it causes extra plaque buildup :confused3 so that on top of not being able to brush really well equals a really gross feeling mouth. I go back Friday for my follow up.

We're Irish Catholic. No donuts for us on Fat Tuesday, but DH and I did have French Toast for dinner last night (in lieu of pancakes. DH likes them better).
I'm doing my best today to observe Ash Wednesday despite the fact we're leaving for Reno in a couple of hours. At least I didn't give up slot machines for Lent. this means we have 2 meatless days in a 3 day trip. My vegan DS cheered when I mentioned that.

I know someone mentioned that Jesus already made the Sacrifice for us, but for Catholics, we try to add our little bitty sacrifice to His big one, not because He needs it, but because we try to follow His footsteps. So for me, Lent is about trying a little harder to be a better Christian. Thinking more about those who are suffering, and trying to be less self-absorbed.

Irish Catholic here too! :wave2: No meat for us today - not that I'd be eating it anyway. I had this moment this morning as I was driving to school and was at the stoplight. All the cars turning were coming from my church and Ash Wednesday services. And I just wanted to go to church. I used to go religiously (no pun intended) in high school and even in college I went pretty often since it was a catholic school. But for the past few years I really haven't gone. I do think a lot of it has to do with the church I'm "supposed" to go to. It really needs to be shut down. But I do like another church in the area which is where I went for Christmas services. We'll see.

Here is an abbreviated version of my week in a wrap.

:scared1: You have definitely had a rough time of it! The foot! Ouch! Hope your week ends on a better note! :flower3:

WI_Disney: I hate that St. Bernard! Last summer I had a VERY frightening experience with my standard poodle. Our neighbors have 2 german shepherds who are kept locked in a cage in the garage all day and only let outside to do their business for about 5 minutes and then back inside they go. Well, he was out of town and his crazy girlfriend decided to take both dogs (who probably have never been on a leash) and her 4 yr old for a walk. And they were right outside my house when I opened the door to take my dog out. I tried to make it back in but no luck. BOTH dogs broke free from their leashes and ran towards us. I was trying to block the bites and protect my baby (who is 50 lbs FYI) from these meanies but she still managed to get a few bites in and I got a puncture on my finger because I got in the way. These dogs were actually partway in our house during this whole thing! Anyway, the girlfriend finally comes over to get her 2 dogs off my dog. Turns out she was tending to her daughter because this little peanut of a 4 yr old was holding one of the dogs on a leash while sitting in the stroller. When the dog bolted, she flew out of the stroller and hit her head. The mom tried to make me feel bad about it. But I'm not usually very sympathetic to stupidity :sad2: Anyway, my dog had to have some sutures but she is fine now. My point is that there are leash laws most everywhere I think. All it takes is an anonymous phone call to animal control or the police. They will probably just get a fine the first time - its not like they will take the dog away. Hope Molly has less eventful walks from now on!

Now a me update - like I said, mouth is feeling better, but dirty. I think my sutures are ready to be out. I can feel stuff back there but its not exactly painful as it is annoying. School was fine today. My afternoon adult client is getting discharged next week which is exciting but I will probably get another client. I will look forward to the break though. Oh and I got my midterm grade for all my clinical work. All 3 of my supervisors discuss and agree upon my strengths and weaknesses and what my grade should be. I got a B+. Ok I guess. But all of the weaknesses were from my time at the schools. This lady is nuts and shoudl not be a supervisor. She is so ridiculous that I walked into the student room yesterday, heard 2 girls complaining, and immediately knew they were talking about my supervisor. They were having issues with her too. Glad its not just me. Oh well. I really feel like I did better this week and hopefully she noticed.

Oh and I just spent 2 hours decorating sugar cookies for my mom's coworker/friend's retirement party on Friday. They are in the shape of badges, donuts, and coffee cups (its a police department). I will have to post a pic when they are all done. Oh and my DSIL's DS (whoa confusing!) "hired" me to make some cookies for her daughter's christening next month. :woohoo:

Off to relax! My morning meeting got cancelled so I can sleep in a bit and go in later.

Checking in real quick! Busy day so I scanned very quickly. I am watching Lost and then going to bed.

Dawn and Princess V - Prayers to you guys!!! Hope you are both feeling better.

S'late and Pixie - your adrs sound good to me. I am with Wendy though - Kona was great!!! I have pics of a lot of their food in my dining review. I liked Ohana too.

Hope everyone else is well!

Gotta go watch Sawyer!

Just remembered some other things!

I thought about doing a CD or DVD slideshow set to music as a small Mother's Day gift for my mom and my DSIL with tons of pictures when me and my DB were little to the present for my mom and obviously pics of my niece and nephew and family for DSIL. BUT I don't know how to do that. Anyone have any ideas to step me in the right direction?

Also, I've been wanting to get my mom a Mother's Ring for years now, but I really can't stand the styles I see in stores or catalogs. Do you think a jeweler would custom make a ring? Or do you have other suggestions of places to go? It'd be from me and my DB and family so I'm ok with spending a decent amount of $$$$. All I want is a solid band with 5 stones (one for each kid/grandkid) in it - not too big but big enough that you know what the stone is :lmao: . I would like to be able to add to it so she could add my kiddos on it someday but thats not a deal breaker. I think she would  it!

Thanks Peeps!

OT--but I know you guys will give your opinions in regard to daycare vs. somone. I have noclue what daycare is going to cost for two kids and was wondering how much you would offer a reliable person to watch kids in your own home. All I would ask is that they would watch kids and then tidy up after them. No cooking except for kids lunch or cleaning. Just trying to figure out what to do. THanks.

I was fortunate to have my mom and Dismom to keep my baby girl when she was growing up!!! Everyone should be so fortunate!!! :cool1: I hope you find someone or someplace wonderful!

OK, I need a little help here. I ate a cookie earlier. That's not a huge deal. I didn't have a morning snack, and it was my afternoon one. BUT the cookies are sitting on the empty desk next to mine! :scared1: And more have appeared! And now I want another! I mustn't!

Somone brought in one of those 24 count chocolate chip cookie packs from Kroger to work today....they were going so slowly that when it finally got down to 3 left, I carried them to the desk of our resident garbage disposal and made him eat them so I didn't have to be tempted any more!!! :lmao:

He intends to get engaged to his girlfriend... :faint:

Just pray for guidance and wisdome for them, because you know you won't be able to tell them any different. They will have to make their own decisions. :bride:

The ring is beautiful! I have been dating my DBF for almost 3 years now and he just grins whenever anyone mentions weddings or marraige, but he hasn't made any moves towards "the big question". I was married for 11 years before we met, so I am not in any huge hurry, but I am not getting any younger here!!!
