We were at a re-enactment dinner, in a living history settlement. We had to help prepare the meal just like the settlers of Indiana did in 1825. We had to work for our dinner and we paid for the meal. It was fun and yes, we ate what we made. I have quite a few pictures of the kids helping out. They were the only children there and they worked as hard as the adults did. They peeled and cut veggies, ground coffee and helped clean up. DD #2 was asked to come out between courses and help make sauce for the cabbage we were served. I took several pictures of her with the cooks while they were working.
OOOps, I saw this little ditty after I said good night!
I have to say that looks like aLOT of fun and work! WOW!!! I love hands on history for kids! So much better than a book!!! (With the exception of American Girl type books, maybe).
I am often thankful my time on earth is now and not 50 or 100 years or more ago. I just cant imagine the chores our mamas had to do! I am thankful for my dishwasher, my car(s), my chicken nuggets, my washer and dryer, my under eye concealer
, my DD's Huggies.....etc.

Let me tell ya; brandied peaches are rather good. I gained almost 4.4 lbs in 24 hrs!!! I dind't feel well yesterday (wonder why...) and ate lightly but I'm still hanging onto 2 lbs of it. Then we went to breakfast and I had a whole hashbrown skillet breakfast. I should be ashamed of myself. I know I don't need that much food. I haven't been on the TM since Wed, I can't get to it at the moment; we had a large shipment of animal goods come in on Thurs and the boxes got piled on the TM. The cats are loving thier new furniture but it's taking a toll on my exercise routine.
I spent the weekend freezing my butt off at my DS11's baseball tournament. The wind was brutal but the boys didn't complain at all.
Maybe he is just rushing through his work but his teacher has told me that he is a very hard worker and she feels his doing the best he can.
Now there's a self esteem booster!!!! But I will not eat to make myself feel better, I'll just cry on my peeps shoulders, or keyboards . There now I feel a little better. But sheesh I'm a size 18/20 is that really so big? They might as well of told me I'm the dancing hippo from fantasia!
HAPPY PRESIDENT'S DAY, PEEPS!
And by the way........
to the "one big happy sweating stinking competitive family". Played racquetball with DD19 yesterday... I haven't played in 20+ years, she's never played. Do you remember the scene in Splash where John Candy and Tom Hanks are playing... Candy is drinking beer and hardly moving, Hanks is running around all over the place. Except for the beer, I was Candy... and I killed DD19! Payback for always having to lose to her at board games
I cant post them here tho, dont watn us to get shut down
