Disadv. to paying in full early?

Besides some of the things I listed below, are there any other disadvantages to paying for the balance of the cruise before the deadline? Are there advantages (i.e., can I book excursions earlier)?

The only ones I've thought of:
- Something could happen that would make us have to change our plans (that is a risk even after the deadline!)
- interest we could earn on the money

I was told by my TA to pay the insurance when the final payment was do (I think 90 days out). Once the insurance is paid it is non-refundable.
