Hiya - new hear and planning our first trip to DLP.

Going in early April during school break for a surprise trip for my dd's birthday. Still very much in the planning stages and trying to sort through the wealth of information on the board. :surfweb:

My first question (for now - there will be sure to be more in following days!) is in regards to disabled persons and cost of admission to parks and hotels. I am disabled and use a wheelchair or mobility scooter (not sure which would be best at DLP so if you have input on that it is welcome.) I have read about what is needed to obtain disability access and that will be no problem. My question is this - We are thinking to buy AP's for the 3 of us, but I hesitate to do so if I can get a better deal by waiting to buy admission at the park. From what I read, carers get in free. My dh is my carer. Does this count? Does he need to have a carer's card (like is used to get into cinemas) or is it enough for him to be helping me. If he does get in free, for a 4 day visit will it be more cost effective to buy an AP or buy admission at the park? I read in a post about someone having a disabled AP - I can't find any information about what that entitles me to and how it is different from a regular AP.

TIA for all your help! I look forward to learning more and making this a magic trip for my dd and me and dh too. :wizard:

I can't help you regarding entrance, although I have heard others saying about the carer getting in free/discounted.

I would say a mobility scooter would probably be better but its whatever your comfortable using.

If your staying onsite, you usually get the tickets included in the price. With the exception of booking with expedia where you can book room only.

Hi lakshmi,

I don't know about carer's entrance tickets I'm afraid, but the easiest way to buy APs is at the entrance to the parks anyway, so you could go armed with your AP prices etc, then ask at Guest Services about your carer's ticket price etc, and then work out which one would be more advantageous for you. Or, you could email Disney direct now, and ask for clarification on this issue. Print off the reply you get, then take it with you to Guest Services when you're sorting out your park tickets/APs, so you have a definitive answer to hand.

Thanks for you input. Regarding this:

the easiest way to buy APs is at the entrance to the parks anyway,

when using a sponsor to purchase the AP can you buy them at the entrance or do they need to be purchased in advance? We won't be arriving until 5 April and it looks like the discount for sponsorship is only if purchased before 3 April.

If you're being sponsored you can only buy APs at the park, not in advance. They have an expiry date on the sponsor forms but after that date the sponsprship always seems to carry on anyway - the new form will have a new date on but you can probably use an old one if the expiry date has just passed. Last time it took them weeks to get the new forms out IIRC!

Mind you, having said that! Was the sponsorship introduced as part of the 15th celebrations? If so, I suppose they might stop it :confused3
