Hi,

We haven't been since 2013 so before the works were started. I have read mixed reports about disabled parking at DD including being directed to a lot a considerable distance away with the promise of a shuttle that didn't materialise. So, for anyone that has been recently and knows the up to date situation -
1) Is there disabled parking at DD or do you need to use the further parking lots?
2) If it is the further parking lots is there a shuttle or only at certain times of day?
3) If necessary is there a drop off / pick up point at DD so DH could drop me off, go and park and then walk back?
4) I think I read that they were introducing charges, is that the case as I even if we are just visiting the World of Disney I am slow especially if we need to shuttle from a distance.

Thanks to anyone that can help.

. . . there ARE handicapped spots, but they are usually filled up pretty early
. . . in such cases, you end up in the remote lots

2) If it is the further parking lots is there a shuttle or only at certain times of day?
. . . the shuttle runs during the shopping hours
. . . the normal Disney buses can also accommodate chairs/ECVs, and run until approx. 3:00am

. . . yes

. . . doesn't make a difference where you plan to shop/eat
. . . at this time, DTD parking is ABSOLUTELY HORRID under any circumstance
. . . another change is that valet parking for handicapped is not free
. . . you pay the valet fee as everyone else (as opposed to free handicapped parking at resorts)

Feb 2014 we had no troublw finding handicapped parking, went twice both times in middle of day

There is a large handicap section by cirque so we parked there and took the ECV on the boat to the Marketplace and back. We didn't wait long for either boat. This was February so don't know if it is
still available.

Everything is still very torn up at Downtown Disney, with more changes to come. We were there in October 2014, January 2015 and May 2015. Much had changed each time. So, whatever anyone tells you now may not even be in existence when you go.
The traffic was pretty horrendous all the times we went. We used the lot by Cirque (kind of behind the House of Blues). It is a big lot and most of the close up spots and all the handicapped ones were filled. We were lucky someone pulled out. The suggestion to park there and take the boat is a good one (assuming nothing changes by your trip). It's important to know that you could be stading waiting for the boat for up to 15 or 20 minutes. The dock is not flat, it slopes down to the water.

Anyone know if handicap parking at Swan is free? Or if the TIW free valet parking when eating at a resort is honored at Swan? Thank you.

Thank you everyone, we don't go until the end of August so I guess there is time for things to change again. We will try near cirque although a long stand on a slope would not be easy. Otherwise DH will just have to drop me, go park and walk back whilst I sit somewhere.

Sadly valet parking is not an option whether free or not since we are renting a car and the rental agreement is very specific that only named drivers can drive it.

Thank you.

We were just there 3 weeks ago on a Sunday afternoon, where we arrived just after 3. We didn't follow the remote signs, but went in where the garage is by the theaters and was able to find a regular spot right at the front of a row, next to the escalators. I don't think it was just luck, because each floor had numerous empty spots according to the digital signs. I was shocked because the line of traffic heading to the remote lots was insane!

Hi.

We arrive on Thursday.

Anyone got any very recent updates?

Is the traffic bad on a Disney bus from por/ pofq?
Or just if travelling by car & parking?

Coming in via car with my grandparents (both in wheelchairs and I'm the only one to push them) to meet family from Texas this Thursday. Our plan is to pretty much just have lunch at either the T-Rex Cafe or the Rainforest Cafe. I didn't realize the new garage was open, if it's open, I should get less fuss from my folks. How are the 2 restaurants as far as giving space for wheelchairs? The party will be 7 people with 2 in wheelchairs.
