Disabled children that may not be able too wait in long lineups. Any suggestions?

I am taking my grandson down too Disneyworld after Christmas and he has multiple disabilities but he looks like a normal kid. We always have problems with his patience for lineups be it restaurant's to Walmart. Has anyone had any dealings with Disneyworld regarding this. I heard from a local pediatrician that there is some kind of lanyard that Disneyworld uses so they know that the child is disabled. They way I understood it was the child could go play on the grass or go for a walk while other parent stayed in line and they could join party closer too the boarding area.

Any suggestions or help would be great. We leave on Jan 7 until the Saturday
