we know things have changed a lot at WDW. and we barely used the Universal accomodations last time we were there...

that was a couple years ago... since then my husbands eyes have gotten much worse. his disease is called Macular Degeneraton.. as you can see by the defininton, it gets progressively worse.. sigh..

ok he has problems jumping onto rides wuickly (such as Forbidden journey, or at disny, haunted mansion, nemo, peter pan,) any ride where you have to QUICK QUICK!! jump on!!

but also, in the queues. he gets beaten up, banged up because, even though you and I can see our way through them, to him, it is very dark, even in the daytime. I try to lead him, but it becomes,, a half hour of "ok, turn right, turn left, oops. soft left again,, ok, u turn coming up... oops. look out for that chain...

and that is usually with some teens behind us, chomping at the bit, stepping on his heels.

so disney's new DAS workd fine for us.. we have no problem waiting the amount of thime of the standby line, we just don't want to have to walk through the long queue with him (and I don't mean to be insensitive, but it's true... bumping into walls and chains and bars the whole time)

so what policies does universal have in place for these visual disablilites?

Universal has a guest assistance pass too but I can't remember the official name of it. You can get it at guest services right after the main gates. I had a broken toe and was on crutches and needed it to be able to avoid stairs. The policy at the time was to be given a return time on my pass equal to the current SB times when the line was long. Otherwise I went through the express pass line. If the line had stairs etc. then I was escorted to the elevator. One of the coolest experiences was riding the elevator in Hogwarts.

Just go see guest services and they can help you out. I found them to be very helpful.
