DIS Virgin megastore rumor confirmed

I just had my hopes up that it would be an Apple Store. I'm not sure why I fell in love with that idea, there are three within 20 minutes of my house, and I don't foresee buying a new Mac Book on vacation. It just seemed like such a good fit!

I'm not against Princess Di or anything, but that's the sort of thing you can 'see anywhere'. I just think a big space like that would have a better use than a display (and I'm assuming you'll have to pay too).

I don't know what sort of museums there are in the area and think that displays like this are a great idea, but it's just not Disney! Saying that half of Epcot FW is a giant commercial for all the sponsors :rotfl:

I guess I expected them to be a little more creative (and maybe in the long run they will be) than just having a space.

It is good that they are using the building for something as there is nothing worse than having boarded up buildings in a popular area (like PI :lmao:)

I think using the space as a constantly changing museum is a good idea, and definitely something I would see. However, I think the world's largest Apple store would have been cooler.

That is basically what I feel. You're putting something in that just lacks staying power. Guests are practically begging for an Apple store or a ESPN thingie, so I hope that's in the long term.

Virgin was overpriced, yes, but if you had to kill time it was a cool place to go into. I always enjoyed looking around and listening to the cds in those kiosks.

Of course, I don't want them to fill the store because I wore a "I'm celebrating another empty building at DTD" button...and if I'm celebrating it, I surely wouldn't want something to go in it:lmao:

To be frank, I would be more interested in seeing her mummy than her clothes. Now that's an attraction.

My immediate negative reaction stems from the sheer inappropriateness of that particular venue for this particular exhibit. The flashy, trendy, pop, tweenie ambience of DTD seems beneath the dignity of an exhibition that - I assume - revels in the reserved yet stunning beauty that we associate with Diana. Excuse me, where may I find the tribute to England's Rose? Just past Planet Hollywood, between the cineplex and the video arcade. Even Main Street USA would be a better venue, let alone the Grand Floridian or the UK pavilion.

Moreover, the clientele at DTD is, on average, dressed for maximum comfort in high heat. I don't relish the idea of videos being shown around the world depicting "uncultured" Americans filing by the Princess's gowns in their tank tops and flip flops. I hope the exhibit has a dress code.
Thats very just sooooo grrrrr i cant put it into words that fallow the dis rules. very stuck up of you Im sure it has been in worse places

The exhibit is only supposed to be there until Nov. 2009. That gives Disney plenty of time to come up with something great in that space.

My husband would have loved an apple store.

But I think this is a wonderful idea. We happen to be lucky enough to be down there to view this. I am a home schooling mom so this will be a wonderful addition to our trip.

I know that Disney is probably just taking more time to think of what will go there permanently but it would be neat if they had a museum come in and out this this every year.
