DIS Unplugged: Disneyland Edition 10/25/12 Podcasts

Looking forward to listening. The Haunted Mansion piece sounds perfectly suited to the season. :clown:

Loved all the segments this week!

Hard to believe there is snow on the castle already! Almost time to discuss Christmas offerings!

I very much enjoyed the diversion to Mount Wilson. That sounds fun. Thanks Mary Jo!

I did try shopping at the new grocery store metioned in the podcast: The WalMart Neighborhood Market on Anaheim Blvd., just North of Ball Road. The store was new, clean, well-stocked and relatively inexpensive. Parking was good. The food quality was good -- we actually ate everything we purchased except for a few of the incandescent orange mini-cupcake my daughter insisted on buying. (That's not real food, it's food-ish.) This shopping trip saved us a lot of $. We typically ate yogurt or banana roll-ups for breakfast, and had bowls of instant noodle soup for supper or snack. These mini meals took some of the sting off the prices at Ariel's Grotto and Goofy's Kitchen.

My only complaint was that this store (along with the WalMart Super Center on Orangethrope near the Characters in Flight store) did not sell any beer or wine. There seem to be high quality tourist-trap liquor stores and seedy neighborhood liquor stores and no choice in between. I was last in California before recession and on that trip, I visited grocery stores to select a few nice California wines without paying resort prices. Is there anywhere around Disneyland that you could recommend?

I'll look into that.

There is a very nice Ralphs near the LAX airport, in a nice area in El Segundo. I would recommend that if anyone is renting a car that they go there. It is only a two-minute drive from the airport, maybe 3 minutes from the car rental places, and close to the 105 freeway.

... and thank you for the kind comments. :)
