First of all, i wanna say i'm sorry for not taking pics....i did it for the first bit but then i started getting too excited and eating before i took the photos :rolleyes1

Saturday Night, Day 1

The trip began with us actually not using the Dining Plan. The DB and I arrived late at night and met DM and DD at the airport. Instead of making reservations we were bound to break we headed instead to the Swan, and Kimono's Karaoke and Sushi Bar. This has always been one of our favorite places but, unfortunately, it wasn't included on the DDP. This enabled us to bank a TS for another night to use at either a show or a 2CR TS.

The only bad issue of the night was the fact that we arrived later then normal. The conventioners had gotten out of their meetings and everyone was "singing" their brains out. The atmosphere was very loud and very crowded. Luckily we found a spot behind a pillar so it would drown out most of the excess warbling. Why does everyone think they can sing?

Atmosphere is beautiful. Black lacker furniture, dim lighting, sit in bar, and beautiful Kimonos as wall hanging dividing the main room from the smaller, more private booths.

Kimono's is a typical sushi place so we ordered a bunch of rolls and apps and shared everything. Here's what we had:

Won Tons and Tuna Salsa $9.50
- Excellent, love that raw tuna
2 x Tekka Maki (6) $5.50
- Spicy Tuna with just enough spice
2 x Tempura Platter $10.95
- Tempura Asparagus, Shrimp, and Chicken skewers (4 of each)
Shrimp Roll (6) $6.75
- Tempura Shrimp roll
California Roll (6) $5.25
Gyoza (6) $7.50
- Pan Fried Pork Dumplings
Everyone had green tea.

This amount of food left us all stuffed. Everything was wonderful, per usual. The staff are very friendly and knowledgable. Problem: We drove since my parents still had the rental car. It cost us the full day fee ($9.50) to park for that hour and a half. Needless to say we won't make that mistake again. My parents were ticked.....

Next, Day 2, Magic Kingdom.

Sunday, Day 2

On Sunday afternoon DB and I headed to Magic Kingdom. I've found this park lacking the food department. Nothing really sticks out, especially QS. Upon arriving at the park we head straight for The Columbia Harbour House in Liberty Square. This place is fantastic. Not only is it almost never packed, the selection is great. They even had some vegetarian options for me. I'm kind of allergic to meat, so i tend to eat vegetarian occationally treating myself. What we had....

DB: Combo #2 Chicken Strips and Fries, Apple Crisp, Coke
- Typical Chicken Strip dinner, sauce selection a little limited. Everything was hot and good.
Me: Combo #7 Half Sandwich (Veggie) and Soup (Clam Chowder), Apple Crisp, Sweet Tea
- Veggie Sandwich was great. Hummus and slaw. The half and half combo was a perfect about of food.

Meanwhile, DM and DD had headed over to Port Orleans to eat at The Dixie Landings food court....it was closed...perminently. Besides this disappointment they still made it to The French Quarter food court.
Here's what they had...

DD: Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich, Cheesecake (you'll see a trend here), Coffee
- Pretty much boring sandwich. It was also kinda cold. Cheesecake was great.
DM: Pepperoni Pizza, No Dessert, Coffee
- DM loves Disney Pizza. It has lots of flavour in the sauce and it's always hot and fresh.

After our afternoon at Magic Kingdom, DB and I met up with DM and DD at the Polynesian to try out the Kona Cafe. I had read some very good reviews about it on the Disboards and wanted to try it myself. None of us were disappointed, it was excellent. The atmosphere is entirely cute. Open, not too bright, warm and inviting. As soon as we walked in to be seated, the hostess took us right over the dessert bar and explained all of the delicious goodies to us. Our waitress was very attentive and very sweet. Everyone around, regardless of age, seemed to be enjoying themselves.
What we had...

Me: Lump Crab Cakes, Scallops and Shrimp, Banana Creme Brulee, Strawberry Banana Smoothie.
- I can't even say enough about this meal. The Crab Cakes were fabulous, moist centre, crushy outsides. The scallops were cooked perfectly. The Creme Brulee was a bit colder then i like it, but still the taste was amazing. I thought it was great that a smoothie was considered our non-alcoholic beverage with the meal plan.
DB: Caesar Salad (another trend), Char-Crusted Fillet, Vanilla Ice Cream, Coffee.
- DB thought the fillet was amazing. Full of flavour, perfectly cooked. The caesar salad was a little flat.
DD: Pot stickers, Beef Teriyaki, Cheese Cake (#2), Coffee.
- DD loved the Beef. It was moist, tender, and the sauce was definately not old ordinary Teriyaki. Cheesecake was great, of course. The pot stickers were crispy and full of flavour.
DM: Kona Seafood Chowder, Char-Crusted Fillet, No Dessert, Mango Smoothie.
- The Chowder was awesome and creamy. Like DB, DM loved the Fillet and was sad when it was gone...

All of us loved Kona Cafe and it will definately become one of our common eating places from now on.

Next, Day 3, MGM Studios

Yay for the Kona Cafe review. I cannot wait to try this place!!! :)

Love, love, love the Kona Cafe. The Filet is one that I still dream about and the desserts.... yum. Glad you had a good meal there.

Meg

Another big thumbs up for Kona Cafe! It's my favourite place to eat. I could die for some of those crab cakes and creme brulle right now! YUM!!

Great reviews! :)

Just checking in for more reviews :) And just an FYI for anyone reading - POR food court isn't closed permanently - but they have been closed since January for an extensive rehab. The estimated date of reopen in March 30, which is ahead of schedule (they originally said mid-April). HTH! :)

Monday, Day 3

Monday was another park day for DB and I. It was also our 2 year anniversary (just dating!) and we wanted to hang out at MGM. Even though MGM has a lot of good eating, we wanted something simple...but fun! Toy Story Pizza Planet seemed like a good place to get a quick bite. What we had...

DB: Combo #5 The Junkyard Combo. A Veggie personal pizza, garden salad, Water, and a Chocolate Chip Cookie.
- DB loves the veggie pizzas. The salad wasn't really necessary, a little too much food for lunch.
Me: Combo #3 The Woody Combo. A Cheese personal pizza, garden salad, Pink Lemonade, and a Mickey rice crispy treat.
- I love cheese pizza. The Mickey rice crispy was soft and delicious!

Meanwhile, DM and DD were just hanging around the resort with our friends from Traverse City, Michigan. They went down to Goods To Go (Old Key West) and brought food back to the room to eat on the balcony. What they had...

DD: Cheeseburger, fries, brownie, lemonade.
- Goods has great burgers.
DM: Cheeseburger, fruit, keylime pie, lemonade.
- DM and DD both loved the fact that they could just pick up the food and take it back to the room. For some reason, they had never thought of doing this before.

DB and i spent a great day at MGM, it's our favorite park. The Muppet 3D movie is the highlight of any day! To celebrate our anniversary, we decided to go to the same restaurant as we did for our first, The San Angel Inn at Mexico in Epcot. The whole family loves eating in Epcot, pretty much the reason we get park hoppers...Anyway, we hopped the boat from MGM over to Epcot and strolled on to our dinner reservation. The ambience inside Mexico is amazing. I love the marketplace at night, it brings back a lot of memories of Cancun for me. Unfortunately, the mexico boat ride is under reno so there was a wall between the dining room and the water area (last year we sat right beside the water with candlelight) this is not a permanent fixture but i was worried about how it would dampen the mood. The fact is, they did a great job of not making you feel like you were in a construction zone. The wall was covered in terracotta masks and other Mexican art pieces. It was nice. Our waiter was also very attentive and very nice. We were sat immediately and he was there for anything we needed. What we had...

DB: Sopa Traditional (Chicken Taco-type app), Pollosias Rajas, Vanilla Ice Cream, Coke.
- DB decided to copy me with dinner. I had tried the Pollosias Rajas last year and loved it. The chicken breast is set in the middle of a plate of creamy Rajas sauce, sauteed peppers, Chorizo sausage and onions. Even though i'm mostly a vegetarian, i'm only that way because (to put it in an easy term) i'm allergic to meat.....so i cheat now and then.
Me: Sopa Azteca (Tortilla Soup), Pollosias Rajas, Vanilla Ice Cream, Pink Lemonade.
- The Tortilla Soup is the best i've ever had.

Again, the parents were not with us. They headed to the Marketplace and Captain Jack's. This was to be a dinner DM would not stop talking about for the rest of the trip.

DD: Clam Chowder, Pot Roast & a Lobster Tail, Cheesecake (shock), Decaf Coffee.
- DD never intended to add a lobster tail to the meal, but the waitress insisted...the pot roast was tender and perfectly cooked. Even though he had to eat the cheesecake walking on the way to the bus, it was still rather good.
DM: Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail, 2 Lobster Tail Dinner, No Dessert, Decaf Coffee.
- DM could not get over the fact that she got 2 giant lobster tails. She went on and on all week how she wanted to cancel all of our other reservations and just keep going to Captain Jack's over and over again. Besides being huge, they were melt-in-your-mouth and perfectly cooked.

I have a feeling Captain Jack's will be on our lift of "must do's" next year. Without a doubt. I even took a pic of her pointing to her favourite meal of the trip.

Next, Day 4, Rest and Relaxation Day

2 giants lobster tails on the ddp!!! I just assumed they would be petite lobster tails. I love broiled lobster tails so I may have to change our adr from wolfgang pucks to captain jack's. just a thought

I will update this again soon, i promise, things have just been crazy round here lately :fish:

Loving the TR and hope there is more to come. I love the amount of detail you're providing. It sounds like that so far all the Disney restaurants were on the mark.
