Would you like to get a new pen pal? Someone who is not from the same state as you, maybe even an international pen pal? If so, come and join us in this pen pal swap.

This idea is part of the QOTD that I had put together. As I was reading the Better Homes, and Garden magazine, it mentioned that January was National Letter Writing Month.

This pen pal swap will be a 6 month commitment. For each month, I will put up a new theme for you, and your pal to discuss about. One month the topic could be Disney, so then the both of you could talk about your Disney experience, upcoming trips, ..... and of course you can just talk about other things as well. This is just a way in getting to know the other person better.

Post on the Pen Pal thread as you send off your letter, and receive it. You do not need to tell us anything about what your letter says, just post to let me know that you are still writing to your pal, and you are receiving a letter from them. So I know that you, and your pal are still participating.

If you would like to request a certain pen pal that you know is participating, then feel free to let me know, and I will see what I can do. Also feel free to list your age or age bracket, hobbies, .... so that I can try to match pen pals up as best as possible.

Our first letter mailing will be in February. Please try to get your letters out on the first or second week on each month. This will give your letter time to travel to your pen pal, as well as time for answering any questions, and sending you a letter before the next month if you wish. If not, you may just answer any questions, and talk about "the topic of the month" in the following letter.

I may include some "twists" in the pen pal letter themes...to change it up a bit. If you wish to participate in the twists then you may, or you can choose to opt. out of it. You can even discuss it with your pen pal to see if the both of you would like to participate in the "twist" for that month.

I am hoping that this pen pal letter swap is a fun way in getting to know another DISer better and to receive some :goodvibes happy :goodvibes mail instead of bills or any unwanted mail.

Sign ups will be till Thursday, and pen pal info. will be given out by Friday so that everyone can start writing to their pen pals for the month of Feb.

To sign up, please pm me the below info.

I've not had a penpal for a long time, and I love sending letters. I'm going to sign up! :coffee:

Keep those names coming :). This will be a fun 6 months in getting to know a fellow DISer. And, I am having fun coming up with ideas for the Topic of the Month, and Twists.

I do have a question for those of you who have already signed up. Would you be interested in doing a small exchange of something that can fit into a small envelope for one or two months?

That would be great, as long as it's something small and relatively flat to fit in the envelope, it's a good idea. :thumbsup2

I just sent my info. This sounds like fun! Plus my DH will probably appreciate an exchange with a stamp instead of the price of a flat rate box :rotfl2:

Is there any other international exchanger that would like to join us, and sent to the U.S.? :3dglasses

I'm thinking about it, but I'm really behind on my penfriend writing at the moment, and factor in that me and my older son is down with a bug, and I'll make a decision by tomorrow on it, once I've got my backlog caught up with and I'm feeling better.

Just an FYI for sending things inside a normal first class envelope.

If it can not bend or go through the automatic machines (because it is too stiff or too thick) you will need to add a stamp or your recipient will have to pay extra postage.

I got a postcard once that I had to pay so much extra postage on that is was almost as much as the postcard itself. To make it worse, the sticker saying postage due was over top of the writing. I couldn't even read the postcard.

Okay, I debated on this one because I have really bad penmanship so just pair me up with someone who doesn't mind chicken scratches. lol

PM on the way.

Thank you for that info. Ann.
:thumbsup2

BELLEDOZER-Hope your son feels better soon. I will be closing this swap tomorrow morning my time ;).

LOL, I'm sure it is just fine. If you want, you could even type your letter. The main reasons for this pen pal swap is to connect with one or more DISers, to receive some happy mail, and to get back into the old style snail mail ways of keeping in touch with your pen pal. And, if the both of you choose, you can both participate in the monthly "twists" which may include sending a little something to your pal. :thumbsup2

Oh thank you for the typing! My handwriting is either really pretty or doctorish. Nothing in between. My penpal will thank you too. :rotfl2:

I'm in! and I wouldn't mind doing small exchanges to my pen pal.
