Dis Mom's Club?

Love the Pinata!! Hope the party went well! We went to the local airshow yesterday and my face got burnt :sad2: We were sat in a tent, well just on the edge of a large tent, and I hadnt realised I was in the sun so much. Never mind, I'm just staying indoors today!

So, I made some reservations for my daughters birthday - at her request we are going to Cape may to eat with Minnie Mouse for breakfast and then Rainforest Cafe for dinner. We're not on a dining plan so thats about it for my reservations.

Anyone got exciting plans for next week, we're going to see Cars2 at the cinema, but thats about it.

My ds13 spent all last week at a church event in Connecticut, doing yard work and small home repairs for people who couldn't afford it. I should spend today doing laundry and housework, but I think a reward is in order for him. Today I am taking him to Harry Potter, and he is really excited.

I'll have to Netflix Cars 2, I can't get him to go to animated movies anymore -- but so glad at least he'll still see something with me! This is an interesting age...

I love the Pokemon pinata! What a fantastic idea! I still accidentally step on them, we have them all over our house. I'd get rid of them, but when his friends come over they still all play with them -- I think it's a good thing to have because they last a lot of years!

I must admit my shortfall... I have no clue how to post pics! LOL But I can post a link to my FB page and I'll have pics there!

Ok, so I need some advice and reassurance... As some of you know, my DH is in the Navy and right now we're stationed in MD, but we're up for new orders in Sept time and will be moving around April-June of 2012... We move every 3 years. We've been looking and scouting, hoping by some miracle we'd get Jacksonville or Mayport, but it's been looking like New Orleans is our best bet and closest to WDW so far. My DH is doing safety right now, normally is in aviation electronics, but he is LOVING safety. The Navy has spent thousands on his "safety education" but safety is only a 2 year spot, so in Nov. they are moving him back to the aviation spot. Well, today he was offered orders for Ground Safety for the wing in Ft. Worth, TX by the Wing Safety Commander (BIG BOSS for safety)! I'm so proud of him and all he's accomplished since going back into the Navy... BUT it is in TEXAS! :scared1: The one place I swore I'd NEVER move to or visit. Biggest reason is his mother lives there and I do NOT get along with her. She is very religious almost cult like, but along with that she is very judgmental. To the point that all her daughter-in-laws are the "evil" because we've "taken" her sons from her. Its also farther from WDW then I ever want to be again... Our goal for this next move was to be closer not 5 hrs farther away... :sad1: We haven't had a chance to talk it over, but I'm really sick over the whole thing. It will also be my DD's high school years, so we had talked about the kids and I staying an extra year where ever we end up so that she can finish her senior year with all the same friends...
Please help me with the positives about TX!

The whole mother-in-law issue is no fun but I think Texas is nice. My husband is Army and we just spent about 4 weeks in TX for some firefighting training stuff lol ( I love my military terminology:laughing:) We were at Goodfellow Airforce base, which is quite a ways from the Fort Worth area but I really enjoyed all of Texas that I was able to see. We will be relocating in September and we tried to push for Texas but we ended up getting Fort Drum, NY. I soooo wish we could get stationed in Maryland, that's where we are from. Highly unlikely though:sad2: The only downfall I found in TX was the dust, but I got used to it after a week. Good luck with you relocation! :)

Thank you all for the nice comments about the pinata! The party last Saturday was a hit and my Monster had a great time...

DH emailed the commander to let him know that he is interested in the job in TX, so we'll see how everything pans out now.

Things have been pretty calm so far this week, until today when my youngest DS woke up with a fever of 102. We just gave him the normal stuff and thought nothing of it, since he seemed to be fine otherwise and are hopeful that he'll be well tomorrow for his birthday. Well I get a text from one of the moms of a little boy that was at the party on Saturday and he has hand, foot mouth disease! I know nothing about HFMD, so I start looking on the internet :surfweb: to see what its all about. As soon as I see the part about blister/sores in the mouth I knew DS had it. He was complaining at dinner that the chicken hurt his mouth and I just thought he had bit his cheek or something. Off to find the flashlight to look in his mouth and yep, I see a bunch of little sores. Since we live on base with a hospital and don't really pay for medical expenses, we head to the ER. We knew they couldn't do much if it really was HFMD, but I would rather be sure of what he has. Sure enough he has it! What a birthday present, my poor baby! Of course it sends DH and I into a panic since we have 3 other kids at home that have all be exposed and we're supposed to leave for FLORIDA in a week! :scared1: This is so our luck. Oh and did I mention we're supposed to have family pictures done on Saturday... My family always seems to find a way to weasel out of family picture day! So, here it is officially my Monster's 4th birthday and he can't sleep because his mouth hurts. :sad1:

Poor baby! I'm so sorry to hear this for him and for you as well. We never want our children to be sick but these things do seem to happen at the worst moments sometimes. Praying that he gets better soon and that no one else in the house catches it!

Poor baby, hope he starts to feel better soon and that the rst of the house mange to escape it!

I am EXHAUSTED! I did not sleep well last night (less than four hours) and I got up and ran this morning thinking it would energize me. Not so much. :surfweb: I am just counting the hours until bedtime... of course, I have to stay up late enough to see who gets evicted on Big Brother. :happytv: :rotfl:

My name is Lorna aka Lilysmommy working mommy (I teach culinary arts.) DH is Jeremy - he introduced me to WDW on our honeymoon and started the addiction. I have 2 little ones DD4.5 - Lily who LOVES Jessie from toystory (so much that for almost a year she introduced herself as Jessie Lily Kate) and DS 8 months - Eli who is quickly becoming a little Mickey fan.

We are planning a surprise trip for Lily. We leave in 11 days for a trip to the world. Little man gets to stay with Mimi and Poppaw for the week so it will be an "all lily all the time" trip.:yay::yay::yay:

can't wait to get to know each of you!!!

Are you doing a princess makeover? My Lily did one when she was three and ADORED it!!! princess:

No princess makeover this time. We discussed it but decided not to spend the extra money. I sew however so she has a new Jessie inspired outfit and a new minnie mouse swing top ready to go.

she can't wait to wear the outfits and keeps asking why mommy is sewing her the "mickey house" clothes!!! Can't wait to see her face when she is told at the airport!!!

NOLAdisneymommy - Get to see another LA. native. HI from Shreveport

saysib - I do use patterns; mostly from an online site. I purchase them, print them and find that most of them are great.

Lily is feeling better this am. She is fever free and hungry so hopefully it is gonna be over fast. I am disinfecting the house right now and have to head to work later today. She will have to hang out in my office while I work. Hopefully no one else will get sick cause we leave in 9 days. :cool1::cool1::cool1:

Welcome Lilysmommy! Good to hear that Lily is feeling better!

Update on us: I seemed to have caught a mild case of HFMD from DS. But so far, no one else is sick! DH's boss sent him home yesterday and also gave him today off, so he's home taking care of the other 3 kids and all the housework! I may have to get sick more often, so I don't have to do the :laundy:... :rotfl:

I'm really struggling with not having any energy, since we are supposed to leave in 6 days for FL and I don't have anything done! I'm usually working like a mad woman the week before we leave and I'm going insane not doing anything... :crazy2:
